Okay so I redid my valve covers the other day and I was going by the book on this one. I had a master mechanic over my shoulder making sure I didn't eff it up. When I buttoned everything up and started it up immediately the oil light came on. Whe I was driving it back the check engine light came on as well which I will get that code later today. Anywho, I have first gear which is all powerful and whatnot, but once it shifts into second ALL power is gone, I mean everything it goes from 200hp to 2. When I put the pedal to the metal all I get is no rpm over 2300, I've adjusted cables checked connections, rechecked connections and so on. I feel like resetting the computer might have thrown something out of whack. There is a slight hunting when I have the pedal mashed, so it makes me think the throttle cable is bugged up. What should I do?

You had to have hooked something back up wrong. Do you know anyone with a similar year 4runner you can compare vacuum connections to and stuff?

So the check oil light it's not still on correct?

As far as comparisons go you can look at my 4Runner anytime.

I'm pretty sure I did it right, but I will be the first to admit when I'm wrong something had to of been wrong. I don't want to drive it more then a mile because if the oil light and it's still leaking from somewhere.

did you reconnect that diagnostic ground on the drivers side?

Yes, but how is it that it would be the reason? Maybe I didn't use the right bolt.

Not connecting it can cause all kinds of weird things to happen. There's not a specific bolt you need so you should be fine.
