Awesome thanks Maz! I called America's Tire and they said they could price match the price at tirecrawl. Saves me about 100 bucks and a far trip to whittier. The only thing the guy said is that I can't get the cooper rebate anymore if i do the price match. I call BS though because the rebate is online through cooper...

You're welcome. Now on the rebate vs. price match debate, I understand your thinking the Cooper rebate should be separate from the price match as the rebate is from the manufacturer. However your not taking into account the business principal of store front costs, vs. warehouse cost.

A warehouse operation is cheaper to run, hence the cheaper online prices. However the very nature of a warehouse business makes shipping costs a real issue if the product is large or heavy. Of course tires are both, so that takes away much of the advantage of cheaper prices.

Therefore it only makes sense the storefront (America's Tire) will match the warehouse price, as your shipping costs are essentially covered by the manufacturer rebate. Or they'll give you the rebate to make the tire cost the same as the warehouse online price with shipping costs added in.

Sorry but it's either / or deal, and remember the advantage here is you get to work with a local shop who is going to give you free rotations for the life of the tire in return for doing business with them.

Had'em for 4 days. My 4th set of these (actually, the first three were the GY SilentArmor). So far, great ride, truck feels more "planted", esp in the OK crosswinds.

After much deliberating and reading of various threads on here I had settled on the Cooper Discoverer AT/3 in P265/70R17. I wanted to go with the ATP as I like the tread block pattern and aggressive look of the shoulder blocks but couldn't justify the added weight or sidewall stiffness of the LT for my typical 99% paved road driving.

So I went over to my local discount tire and discussed the options with him. I wanted to go ahead and purchase today so I could take advantage of the $80 Visa rebate. He said they offer the ATP in P-metric and in LT. I was very surprised to hear that and I took a look my self. So, they offer (at least in 265/70R17) P and LT in both the AT/3 and ATP tires. So I went with the better looking (IMO) ATP in a more appropriate for my usage P-metric flavor. They have to order them, so it'll be a few days until I get to look at them first hand and verify. As far as my invoice goes, these are non-LT 265/70R17 Discoverer ATP tires.

Not sure if this is news to anyone, but I hadn't read it anywhere on here the past few days and thought it might sway some people who weren't completely sold on the AT/3's.

I've found these to be very good in most situations except wet/slush. Most trouble I've had with hydroplaning from any tire I've ever driven with on an SUV. It's almost a deal breaker here in Portland.

I guess I should clarify for my own understanding. If I get a nail in the middle of the tire they will fix it. If I blow out the tire or get a nail near the side wall w/o the road hazard they just give me a prorated value of the tire.

If I get the road hazard, then they'll replace'em for free if anything happens or refund me if I get it replaced out of town. Yea it is 20 bucks per tire...

If I understand right, costco just offers the fixing and the prorated value of your tire back to you if it goes bad (the first option). They don't give you road hazard where they give you a free replacement or refund right? I had always gotten costco tires before. =P

Based on that kind of road hazard warranty. Are most ppl getting those?

I've only ever used discount tires certificates. I've had a nail where they repaired the tire and one where they had to replace the tire. It was $20ish. Never inquired about road hazard coverage.

I recommend buying the certificate ($25/tire from America's Tire/Discount Tires): I purchased the P rated AT3's, I hit a small rock on PAVED highway that managed to pierce the sidewall of one of my tires @ 3000 miles AFTER a day of light OFFroading!;the destroyed tire was replaced with a new tire !

+1 On the certificates. I bought it from Discount Tire on my new Coopers for $20 per tire and I consider it cheap insurance for a no questions asked policy.

Update on Toyo AT2's

Update on the 265/70/17 E load Toyo AT2's from a page or so ago:

Highway: They are louder than the Blizzaks and stock 20's that I had on. No doubt there is a noticeable low buzz. Again, I expected this from a 16/32nds tread tire.

As a counterpoint, my wife's car is on a 40 series low profile highway "performance" all season tires. It's just as loud from a tire noise perspective in my opinion. A higher pitched noise in her car and a lower hum in mine. Neither car holds a candle to the RX350 Fsport on stock 19's that I drive. That damn thing is "fart in a movie theater" silent!

Boston had a nasty 40-60 mph gusty day. Our bullet shaped super aerodynamic profile lets the 4runner slice through the headwinds and cross winds like a hot knife through solid granite, fail. I think the cross wind was marginally more annoying on the Toyo's than on the 20's. To be expected from the added sidewall in my opinion. That being said, it's hard to compare cross winds due to angle and actual wind speed, but my gut says they wander a bit more than stock, but again, not "1990's GMC" bad.

Offroad update: Sadly, all I have is that I found some class VI roads, it had scary ruts and mud. I laughed and never even got a traction control light to come on coming out of a 1 foot deep mud puddle. Uneventful in a good way

Still no issues with the GY. We haven't had any rain here since I put on the tires, but they handle well, and no significant noise increase. The tread design is similar to the Silent Armor, and I had no issues with those. My experience with the Silent Armor in Iowa snows was very good. The tires pulled well and didn't slide around. I expect the same from these. With limited data, there doesn't seem to be an mpg hit (Only 2 fillups so far). I've got about 400 miles on them now.

I believe those are Euro-metric as they don't have the P or LT designation.

I had these ATP's on my 2WD Tundra and they got me home from Atlanta to Acworth with little to no slips in our "snow-pocalipse" that we had earlier this year. One thing I always wondered is how they compare to AT3's as they seem nearly identical...I got AT3's on my 4Runner now (previous owner put them on), but next time around I may end up with the ATP's again...they look more aggressive.

I just got a set of Goodyear Wrangler Authority's today installed. From what I have read and seen, these are basically Walmart version of the duratrac. I upgraded from the original Dunflops after 25k and glad I did. For $170 rollback sale price per tire, couldn't pass them up. They are not very loud on my 33 mile highway drive home. Here in Indianapolis,we had a heavy heavy thunderstorm with tons of rain and flash flooding warning still going on. I didn't feel like the wet road traction was compromised. No hydroplaning and felt stuck to the road. I drove my wife to dinner tonight and she didn't notice any increased road noise. I did however manage to take it in the mud and a small farm trail. No issues in the mud. I would say I like these better than a set of Nitto TG I had for another vehicle. Only downside was I had to deal with reject walmart tire employees and I was afraid they would fruck my truck up.
