I just noticed on the Nitto site the Ridge Grapplers apparently come in "C" rated stock size for us now...I was so focused on C rated 285's for a while I must not have even realized the stock size was available...duh.

That has to be quite new; definitely was not out there around July this year and still not showing up as an option on Discount Tire's web page when I just checked.

31.89" diameter (so very close to a true 32 inch) and only 54 pounds. Could be a great option actually if you don't want to go up to an E rated (may have to consider it a few years from now when my Falken is shot ).

Outside blocks....every other one wears faster. Helps the rotate left/right more often i suppose

Yup. That looks like the same wear pattern that I experienced on my first set. However, I experienced the wear on all four tires, front and rear, on both the inside and outside edges. I rotated every 5K miles.

Just bought a set of AT/3's based partly on this thread. Farm and Fleet had a buy 3 get one free sale. Discount tire agreed to match or beat them. About 550 including tax out the door, with a $70 rebate as well, so net cost $480.

Good "all arounder"

So, for starters the stock tires on the TRD Off Road are... not awesome. Seems like everyone on here already is aware of that. So my quandary is what shall I replace them with? I am looking at three options the Nitto Terra Grapplers, the BFG AT KO2s and Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3... part two of this problem is none of them really come in the same size. So the Baja ATZs look like they'd be 285/70R17 the BFG's would be 275/70R17 and the NITTO's would be 265/70R17. My vehicle is brand new 2017 1500 miles on it currently, bought 11/6/17. the tire size I WANT is the 275/70R17 because based on the 5th gen fitment guide (on this forum) it's as big as I can go without modification.

I have been off road with the new rig twice already since I bought it, I also live in New Hampshire and frequent the white mountains, so off road performance is important as well as snow traction. I have a 26 mile commute one way and about 17 of that is on highway, so road manners matter as well. Additionally we may be making a long trip out west (Colorado and Utah) and doing some "destination off roading" as well as camping and just general touring around. So when I mentioned I need a good all arounder... yeah I need that.

The Cooper ST/Maxx might be worth a look into. I run them on mine. Couldn't be happier. Merely a suggestion.

Thanks!! I checked them out, looks like a good option, however no 275, so I would have to choose to go small/stock at 265 or risk going too big at 285... what size do you run? do you have a lift? I don't plan to lift mine, also do you do much off-roading?

Unless something changed recently, the ST Maxx is available in 275/70. Thats the size I run. I do have a 2 in lift. Easy lift to do by the way and the best mod by far to the 4Runner. I don't off road as much as I'd like to yet. The few times I've been off road, the tires were the least of my concerns.

They do offer in 275 flavor. [MENTION=129593]MTN4RNR[/MENTION] ran them without lift for a couple years.

Yep! Still running the same Cooper ST Maxx's. 275/70, no issues whatsoever after 37k miles! Never had a problem with them on the stock suspension and I pushed them pretty hard.

That's great news, but I am unable to find them, I checked Cooper's website and found the specs for the tire. But none of the tire shops (Town Fair Tire, NTB, Tire Warehouse) where I live seem to carry them. I also checked Tire Rack, wonder why I'm not finding them...hwell:

Running the Cooper lt atp's nice blend of at & more aggressive tread but not st/maxx ! 285s with MATCHIN SPARE & WHEEL fits under nicely !

Looking at this thread and the E vs. C discussions ...there are several options in 275/70 but they are largely E load (10lbs heavier each)

I'm thinking about the Firestone Destination 275/70 C Rated option...that may be the only 275 in the C? Not very aggressive looking however

Cooper AT3 275 in C...I’m running them currently. 10k and they have been perfect for my needs. Great in wet conditions, quiet on road and hold their own off road in mud, sand, dirt and rocks.

Excellent...Thanks Cymon, and cheaper than the Firestones as well it looks like...they hadn't popped up in my search, but looks like a good option
