The driveway at home was clean but after driving 15 miles to my destination tonight I noticed smoke coming out from under the hood. A quick inspection showed ATF dripping on the ground and chassis. I was able to top it off and get home with no problems.
Seems to be coming from the right (passenger) side. The truck spent a lot of time on the beaches of New England surf fishing and while I was careful to rinse off the best I could it has some severe rust underneath.
My feeling is there may be cooling lines from the tranny to the radiator and back and one may have rusted through.
I'll know more in the morning but I thought I would ask here if anyone cares to venture a guess. If it is a cooling line can they be bought as a ready to install piece or must they be fabricated (bent and flared)? I assume they are compression or flare fittings?
