Hello there im new to this board i live in Suriname (south america) i recently bought a 96 2wd sr5(has limited badges) "bought it that way" and i have a problem i have a check engine light and pulled the code p0710 "Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit Malfunction" i searched under the car but cannot locate the sensor does anybody have a good pic of where it should be i already looked in the service manual but its not where the manual says it should be the previous owner told me that he had changed the tranny a couple of months ago so could it be that this tranny doesnt have the temp sensor?
and is there anything i can do to keep the check engine from lighting up(a fix to not show this code)??
thanx in advance

Here's two pics to help you find it.

In the live photo, the sensor is just behind the send line.

ok thanx alot but unfortunatly my tranny does not have it could it be a tranny from a older 4runner? i have the v6

Is there a hole there with a plug? Whoever replaced the tranny must have left it out. I don't know how you're going to get rid of the CEL unless you put a sensor in there.

Nope no hole it just doesnt have any option to put a sensor there i will take a pic tomorow and post it
thanx for your help

the p0710 cel is fixed without having to put a sensor i put a resistor on the plug and fooled the computer in thinking there is a atf temp sensor somebody on the yotatech forum suggested it and it helped

thanx
