Attic using storage net

I've seen a few posts about setting up an attic inside the vehicle, and figured I'd share what I installed today.

I bought the 9 Moon 4 Hooks storage organizer thru Prime (cost: $9). I had to modify two of the anchors to fit, but otherwise, it was a pretty easy install.

That is one of the best mods I've done but I had to weave bungees through the net on all four sides and also crisscross to make it effective. It's very useful, I carry a heckuva lot of gear up there.

Do you a picture of yours? I'm figuring this one is gonna need some extra support if I try to load too much.

Good idea reinforcing the edges w/ bungee. Just curious, I'm trying to think what I can practically put up there... What stuff you you store there? Thanks for the good write-up & pics.

That's pretty cool! I've got smaller nets velcro'd to my trucks headliner. Pretty handy for lighter stuff like paper towels, etc..

In doing a similar DIY net-thing (sorry no pics), I will just stuff a camp light for car camping and light soft goods up there like a rolled small tarp, rain jacket, frog togs, basically anything that can be moved to free up more cup holders in the rear passenger doors. At FJ the net was more useful when stationary and in camp... useful for freeing up floor space but the net is (atleast in my case) less than ideal for securing cargo in a moving vehicle... Projectiles can be created in the event of a collision.

Might have to look into this. I'm thinking it would be perfect for pillows, jackets, extra blankets. My seats and floors tend to get dirty from my son and that stuff is usually in the back seat with him.

Any concern with things being launched during a hard brake?

Edit: After reading all the replies, I agree it is a good spot for maybe some waterproof clothing, small tarp, etc.

Good for camping and clearing up some floor space.

I figured I'll be using mine for rain gear, jackets, gloves and hats, etc. Basically some lightweight stuff.

Got my net in today, I'll hook it up this weekend. I only plan on using it for blankets, pillows, jackets, first aid kit (clipped in). Nothing that can hurt if it can launch unless i can clip it in to the net.

Bought (2) 36" bungee cords and weaved them thru net. Should be able to hold a bit more now.

That's what I did, and bungees wove thru along all four sides. I carry ponchos, spare socks and clothing, bota bags, fishing vests, shoes, boots, bug spray, sunscreen, etc, etc. It's a great mod, easy to access gear.

Sweet, I'm totally doing this. My wife and I sleep in the back of the rig and it would be cool to have a little loft up there for light stuff.

Mind explaining what exactly you had to "Modify"? Just ordered my net and will be doing it this weekend.

I know OP said he used 36" bungees for the diagonals. What length bungees did you use for the 4 sides?

Nice job! Looks like your '05 has much better rear hook placement than my '07. Mine just has two hooks right next to each other in the middle of the cargo area, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to install some D-rings in or behind the top trim more toward the front and back of the cargo area.

Diamond_D Let me know if you have any progress with this. I've got an 07 as well and just noticed the difference in hook placement
