If you have a Millennium Silver 4Runner, have ever wanted a Scooped Sport Hood, and live in one of these 4 states you need to clink on the link below. You could look for the next 20 years and not find a Millennium Silver Sport Hood this nice. I'm getting interest from owners of other color 4Runners, but honestly I would prefer to sell this hood to a Millennium Silver owner. Simply bolt this hood on and you are done - you have totally transformed the look of your vehicle. When I finally installed my Stellar Blue Sport Hood I was blown away by the transformation - it just makes the front end of your 4Runner look meaner. This cost me a total of $591 and it was worth it.

Finding these OEM Sport Hoods has become a little bit of a weekend hobby for me lately. I have never seen a nicer Sport Hood on or off a 3rd Gen 4Runner - in any color. Most hoods (flat and scooped) that I see for sale need a lot of work to just look decent. After I factor in gas, meals, expenses, mileage on my vehicle, etc. I might break even doing this or maybe even lose a little money. If I included compensation for my time spent I would certainly be losing a good bit of money. I guess I started doing this because there is a thrill in finding such a rare hood and I get some satisfaction out of knowing the new owner will appreciate it. I also enjoy driving and seeing the countryside, and right now this is a way to do that on Saturdays.

If you buy an aftermarket hood and get it painted Millennium Silver to match you will probably spend more money than the cost of this hood:

$200 Cost of Reputable Paint Shop to Paint Hood & Blend Color Into Fenders
$500 vs $395, and this is an aftermarket hood vs OEM

The owner of this hood never even took his or her 4Runner through an automatic car wash - there isn't even swirl marks in the paint.

I'll probably be able to find a Black one soon. Most of the Sport hoods manufactured were black, green or silver.

We need to figure out some type of transport system for items like this that are too large to ship. Let's pretend this hood was black for example:

There will probably be someone on this forum heading east from Houston in the next few weeks. I could meet that person in Houston and hand off the hood. Even if this person is heading to Florida on I-10 you could meet him in Alabama somewhere along the Interstate. If we had a system like this we could save a lot of money and enable rare items like this to be transported around the country without fear of damage. Sort of reminds me of the "Ride Share" board we had back in my college days (mid-1980s) at Texas A&M. People would post where they needed to go for the holidays and somehow everyone got a ride home. Think about it - this was before the internet and cell phones!

Yeah something like that would work. I didn't realize College station was almost 12 hours from me, I was figuring more like 8 or so. If you happen to see one in a yard near me let me know and you'd be my hero haha. Right now I've found a few but they're all about 6 hours away and don't seem to want to respond to my emails... I'd be willing to do 6 hours to get one, but maybe they didn't believe me in the email... With gas prices as low as they are right now that would run me about $60 in gas which isn't bad and certainly cheaper than shipping one safely. I'm about to go call the one place and see what they say on the phone.

I called the place in Woodstock and they said they didn't have one unfortunately. I pass through near there fairly often too... She did refer me to a place in Georgia that said they have one. Online it said it is off a limited, but I guess it could still be a sport hood or they are just wrong. I called and she said they are gonna send someone out to look and see if it is still there and in good shape. I asked about pictures but she said it is pouring down rain right now so I might not be able to get pictures today if it is in-fact a sport hood. I've got a few more places I'm gonna try calling still as well.

Didn't you do all of that work yourself on your bumpers or am I thinking about someone else in Alabama? If this was you you probably have all the skills necessary to repaint a hood yourself. Black shouldn't be difficult as far as color matching with the fenders. I'm assuming there isn't any metallic flake and that makes it easier. As you know, half the battle is the prep work. You can buy the correct paint at your local Tasco with the correct paint code. It might look cool for you to match the scoop insert with the same bed liner you painted on your bumpers.

Yeah that wasn't me that did all that work on the bumpers. That was LimitedBlack I believe, he is about an hour and a half south of me. I would like to do that with my bumpers though. The only issue with painting a hood myself is I don't have a paint booth and I doubt I would be able to get a good shine on the hood myself. I'm OK with painting small parts like my Satoshi or stuff that won't show imperfections as much as a high gloss paint, but I highly doubt I could get a large flat surface like a hood to look good enough for me to not be frustrated with it. I do like the idea of bed lining the scoop insert though, and may do that if I can find one. The place in Georgia just called me back and said they no longer have the hood unfortunately.

If you want an OEM hood I would grab that gray one in Calera. You could always paint it flat black for a while (with a gloss back scoop insert) until you were ready to get it professionally painted. It would still look sharp. These OEM Sport Hoods are incredibly hard to find.

Yeah, that's true. But, right now I might have a lead on one! I called a place and he said it's black with the hood scoop. I asked for pictures and he said it is pouring down rain there right now as well so he wouldn't be able to get good pictures, but he would be able to get some Monday morning for me. I told him that's fine. I really hope it is in good shape. I asked about the price and he said $175 picked up!!! That would be a steal if it's in good shape in my opinion. I'm excited. Hopefully I won't be let down!

That is a hell of a deal! Houston salvage yards want $250-$300 for Sport hoods in poor condition.

Here are the photos that the salvage yard in Long Beach, California sent me. This one was $300 not counting transport, boxing, crating and shipping.

Exactly. I can't wait to hear back from them Monday. Even if the paint isn't in great shape it would probably still be worth it, so long as there isn't any actual damage to the metal underneath. I'd be in it about $250 after the gas to pick it up. Considering I paid almost $200 total cost to get OEM foglights and everything associated I think a little more for an entire hood isn't bad at all.
