Audio Amplifier Question on settings?

Hello, I installed an 8" Polk Momo in my 2003 4Runner. It is a 4ohm sub. I have an old Pioneer GM X502 amp that I would like to power it with. I have not used this amp in along time and I was wondering how to set the switches on the amp so I can power the sub right.

The first switch it has, is for LPF, OFF, or HPF, which one do I set it to.

Input Level
2v - 400mv

Bass Boost
Level - 0db-12db
Freq - 40hz-120hz

LPF should be set to no higher than 125. Depending on your mid strength. HPF for the sub should be set at 25-30. Bassboost CAN be set at about 40hz with as much gain as you want. it just boosts the db at and around 40hz

Thanks for the reply, so then I should have the switch on HPF for a sub and the LPF is for mids?

No, I was kinda unclear. First HPF is High Pass filter, it will only let freq. above that point go through. So for the sub, it should be set about 25-30 because most subs shouldnt play that low.

LPF is Low Pass Filter. It lets only freq. below that point go through. So 80-125 is where it should be set.

I was talking about mids because you should set the LPF higher if you need it to take care of more mids in your car. But if you have dedicated mid bass's then you wouldnt need the sub to play that high.

you need some tools to do that properly. For now just set your HU to the max you will play it, then turn the knob down to make the sub the volume you want. If you can, try to get it so its not clipping which is the point of the gain knob
