Wow! Great job on the pictures. Those look professional.

I had honestly forgotten what a mostly stock 5th gen could do and it was fun seeing you guys christening your rigs off-road.

And thanks wfo9 and PWD4R for leading us and helping us be able to drive our rigs back at the end of the day.

Wish I could have stayed longer as it looks like you all had a lot more fun later on. I did notice there was a tow strap involved at some point though.. :biggrin2:

It was an awesome weekend, thanks to [MENTION=106176]wfo9[/MENTION] for his awesome spotting and [MENTION=141906]PWD4R[/MENTION] for his winch, @vdo for his awesome pics and the uncrustables, and [MENTION=22289]flatspin[/MENTION] for supporting the argument that a T4R Limited can be just as capable as a TE or modded SR5! Here are some lessons for any first timers that head out to Hidden Falls:

1) Go in a group. At least one person should know the trails and be capable in judging the abilities of the vehicles and drivers

2) There should be somebody with a winch. If it had been only stock runners yesterday I think we could have gotten me out of that tricky spot but having winch made it easier

3) Go slow and be aware of your surroundings. Our trucks are very capable but patience is needed if you want to have fun and not leave bits and pieces of your truck at the park

4) Off roading like what we did is physically and mentally challenging. This was apparent when I got home but as I thought about it, all the dips and bumps puts a strain on the body, and making it safely down the trails requires a good amount of thinking and foresight

5) As many have said here, the trails at HF are no longer accurate according to their trail map. Erosion and digging from other vehicles has really torn up a lot of the trails so plan your route. We stepped out of the trucks more than a few times to walk the trail and scout our lines before committing to even some the easy trails

That was me I got hung up on a hump where we were trying to see if my TE had clearance but it did not. Thankfully no damage just scraped the skids

Very nicely put. I would have to say though that I was envious of the clearance and approach angle the Trail had. Of course, had it been colder, my heated seats would have been nice... :lmao:

I'm trying to load the video I took from behind vdo through Royal Gorge (the creek run)

I still can't believe we did that! I kinda wish that Jeep group had seen us, I overhead em talking about our 4runners

Looks like you all had a blast. Wish I could have made it out there with you all. My brother in law and I made it out there on Saturday. We were the only 4Runner we saw out there. We did see a Tacoma and a crap load of Jeeps.

Looks like a great time. I hope I can join yall on the next outing. I just bought an old XP Laptop and cable and was able to get it working with Techstream so I could bring that out next time if someone has some keys or remotes they need programmed.
