Auto Door Lock Fails to Operate

I have a 2013. Whenever I use the key fob to lock/unlock my 4Runner the driver door fails to operate. Even when using the lock/unlock toggle switch on the interior of the vehicle, the driver do is the only one which fails to operate.

I've put my hand against the door and I think I can feel that the lock is attempting to work? I've been having to use the old Key in the door method to properly secure and unlock the 4Runner.

I think my vehicle is really "new" to already have the auto door lock motor fail? Any suggestions or has anyone had to replace the door lock motor already and have pointers?

There is a motor down inside the door that tends to fail. Search on 4Runner door lock actuator. It can be a $250-ish part, or if you're handy you can disassemble it and replace a $6 motor. Here's how a guy did it on a Highlander, same idea.

My wife's Highlander door lock actuator has failed so I'm looking at the same thing.

Both of my front door locks went bad within weeks of eachother.

Repaired at dealer under warranty:

The Front door lock assembly needs to be replaced.
69030-42230 Lock Assy, fr door w
Internal failure 672111 0.50 Replace R/F door lock assy

In and out in an hour.

That's the go-to on this topic.

Had 3 of 4 doors fixed about this time last year. Was under warranty. Never thought that extended warranty would pay for itself that soon, but sure enough it did.
