hi all, new to this forum. did the usual search didnt find anything. 87 runner, 22re, rebuilt t100 auto trans. if i put it in d, it barely starts to move and feels as if its slipping under load, the engine doesnt rev up like its in neutral but like its trying to start in high gear. however if i shift manually 1st, 2nd, 3rd, od, its upshifts fine with no slippage whatsoever. tranny shop guy says its the electrical control is bad. took it to a reputable independent toyota shop he says he thinks its the trans computer. any one have probs with their trans computer doing this? thanks

Five bucks says you've got a bad TPS or a bad connection between the TPS and the ECU. If your computer doesn't know where your throttle is at, it doesn't know to downshift, and it defaults to 4th.

I'll take those five bucks. Mine is doing the same thing, and my mechanic told me it was the solenoids. I have to manually start at Low gear and then work my way up to drive. My problem now is that about 2500 RPMs I get the AT Temp light, Batt light and Brake! light on.

Hey Clone was that a fix you did yourself or did you take it to a shop?

I did them myself. Not too hard. there are 3 in the package, two are identical, one is different. Pretty obvious where they go. I took them out and replaced them one at a time anyway, tho.

Search my posting history. Some of my first ones are about swapping the solenoids. Good luck. PM if you have questions.

Help!!!!!

Hey guys, I have a 90 4runner that wont shift out of first gear, wether i manualy shift or just put it drive and go. I lost them going down the road at 55, it seemed to just pop in nuetral and roll to a stop. when I shifted through the gears revers park and nuetral are fine just wont shift out of first when going forward. fluid was regularly maintained and its full and clean. what sensors and or electrical connections should I look for to identify this problem. Oh and alot of the dash lights are out, so needless to say no trouble codes flash.. Any tips , andvice, or knoledge would be greatly appriciated. Thanks!
