Hello all. IÂ’m having issues with my moms 99 limited v6 auto. I have replaced all the shift solenoid a year ago along with the filter and fluid. It ran perfect for a year. Now it has an intermittent problem taking off from a stop. ItÂ’s acting like it goes into neutral then bang into gear and take off. IÂ’ve noticed that when it does it if I stay stopped the rpms will rise to 1000-1100rpms. Any ideas?

First - check the transmission fluid level. Auto transmissions will behave badly when the fluid is too low or too high. If the fluid is good;
Second - do a pan drain and use a magnet to look for metal chunks. This behavior sounds like gears that are not meshing right. Hopefully there are no metal chunks;
Third - take it to a good tranny shop for a full fluid flush and start counting the days. If this resolves it - great; but odds are you are on the count down to a new transmission. BTDT and I ended up with a new Toyota transmission from Toyota of Ft Worth. The best money I have spent in a long time was getting a new Toyota transmission; peace of mind and the trans shifts great. But my 4R is supercharged so no independent shop or Jasper would warranty anything for me.
