Auto Transmission Woes

Okay so the day before last I did the so called "Blue Wire" mod and works great. The following Morning, I am driving to work after allowing my truck to warm up. It will not shift into 4th gear. I am stuck at around 60-65 MPH max as it's at around 3k RPM and I cannot get it to shift. Once I get up to about 52 MPH it hesitates for a moments and actually drops RPM's briefly as if it's about to go into gear but RPM's Spike back up and not allow it to go in. This was very sudden. The only tranny problems I had before this sudden issue is the transmission slips a little while going into 2nd. I have only had this truck since Feb, Check fluid yesterday and it is clean and full not low at all. Could I have done something during the Cutting and splicing of wires to limit my gearing some how? or is this purely coincidence? This is my second 3rd gen and the 2nd time i've done the blue wire mod. It was as easy this time as it was last time. I had no issues of this kind with my last 3rd gen. I just need a little advice before Taking it to the mechanic as I have no experience and very little knowledge on Transmissions.

I'm going to guess coincidence. Obviously, without knowing exactly what wires you cut/spliced, it's hard for any of us to say for sure. What has your maintenance schedule been on your tranny? You said the fluid was clean, so I'm also guessing you've recently drained/flushed and replaced oil and filter? A good place to start might be just be a flush, new fluids and filter. Could have some debris in the valve body or a bad solenoid. Any codes /CEL's?

As far as my own maintanance goings, I've only owned since Feb, have not drained and fulled tranny since but was preparing to. The fluid is clean as far as dipstick goes, I have not drained it yet to know for sure if the pan is corroded or not. I am def going to do a flush and see if this helps. I did just read the write up on flush yesterday but want to confirm process. It's Drain, drop pan, clean pan, remove old seal, remove old filter, install new filter, install new seal, install pan, fill pan through dip stick hole, remove tranny cooler hose, remove approx 1 QT of fluid at a time and fill through dipstick hole until new fluid is coming through tranny cooler hose?

What about the temp sensors or thermostat? If they're reading a colder temperature it changes the shift points to warm up the engine and provide better emissions. If they're malfunctioning it could only exacerbate things. Just thinking out loud.

My tyranny was dropping out of OD when cold. Once up to temp it ran fine. Bought a new thermostat, installed it and it hasn't done it since. My thermostat was stuck open causing it to run below optimum temps

I feels like it's running out of O/D but the light isn't coming on. Wonder if it's some how stuck off but it's not indicating......

I don't have a tranny temp gauge so i'm not sure but the regular temp gauge is showing normal. Was your O/D OFF light indicating or not?

Okay I just read a post of someone saying they did Blue wire mod and it disabled OD and fooled their computer into thinking it was in 4 lo. I'm going to reconnect wires back up and see if this is the case. Anyone ever had this experience before? How can I keep these wires connected but add a switch to disable them???

Interesting. Can you post the thread?
