Auto Ventshade Bugflector latching issues

Has anyone installed the Auto Ventshade Bugflector and had latching issues?

Installed on the hood perfectly in about 5 mins. All screw holes lined up perfectly and it fit the good nicely. I carefully closed the first time and it prelatches fine, but will not fully press down and lock. Wondering if there is too much material to fit between the hood and the radiator cover plastic piece? kind of hard to tell where it's hanging up.

Wondering if anyone else has ran into this.

Ya you have to slam the hood to close it. After having on for a week I took it off because it wore some paint away on the top part of the grill, the piece above the Toyota logo, just below the front of the hood. And that was only with closing it probably 6-10 times.

I've had mine installed since 2011 and I had the same problem. I just lower the hood until it catches the latch and then with the palm of my hand I give it a firm push above the latch. The clear coat of the grill where it makes contact with the deflector has chipped but you only see it with hood opened. After a while, it gets easier to close.

Mine is a snug fit as well. I put a small strip of 3M clear door guard film on the lip of upper grill which has protected the paint. Film is not visible unless the hood is open.

I got a little bit left over from my Gobi rack install. Maybe I should cut some small strips and do the same.
