Auto window problems

Hey guys,
So I've had weathertech in channel rain guards installed for the past month and when I first installed them all the windows rolled up when I used the auto up feature. Well I hardly role down my windows and yesterday day after rolling down my rear passenger window, I used the auto up feature and the window went up and automatically came back down.
I tried re adjusting the visor and I even took it out but the window won't stay up using the auto up feature. If I pull up on the window switch lightly, the window will roll up and stay up. Like I said, I've had them for about a month so the window seals had enough time to stretch out so I know it's not that and I checked the track and there is no debris in it. I have no clue how to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you post a picture?

There are safeties, built in, to the auto function, if they detect something in the path of the window, fingers, kid's arms, etc., the window will stop and reverse.

Check your manual and see if anything is blocking the path of the window.

Same exact thing here. Got the Weather Tech inchannel window vents and the windows safity thing puts the windows down when the top of the glass gets near the top. To fully close the window, I've gotta keep hitting the switch lightly to allow the window to close fully. Wasn't a problem before the window vents. I hope over time things will work their way in the window track but till then, I don't think there is anything that can be done. The same thing with my old 4Runner and that went away over time.

I just tried disconnecting the battery by removing both battery cables but I can't get the window switch to flash so I can reset it. I haven't tried taking apart the door panel like the first video but I think I'll try that next time. Till then I guess I'll just deal with it. On a side note, I realized that after disconnecting the battery the preset radio stations are still saved but I lost the info on the tripometers.

a friend of mine had the same issue on his truck wit those in-channel rain guards.. that's why i didn't buy them. let others know so they don't have the same issue

So I fixed the problem. At first I tried this http://www.toyota-4runner.org/tsb/8...4runner-window-initialazation.html#post781077 but when I disconnected the battery I didn't see the light flashing on my window switch. I then asked a mechanic friend who told me all you need to do is turn the key to ignition and whatever window is giving you problems, you hold that switch up for ten seconds and you should be good. I'm glad this worked because I love my weathertech visors. Hopefully this will help some one else out who is having the same issues

Was just checking if all windows are closed - pulled all switches up and driver side passenger window just rolled down. Tried window switch few times - window go all the way up and then rolled down like a jam protection was activated. No dirt or debris in window channel. Read about battery disconnection, but didn't really like to disconnect the battery because it's too much trouble to set up all radio presets, phone connection and compass. Was about to ask here about this issue, but found this thread and it worked! No battery disconnection is required, just turned key in ignition-on position, rolled down the window and held window switch 10 seconds after window was fully up. Works like a charm.

I had this same issue but it just self resolved.

In the instructional videos from WT, they say to tug outwards and close the window so it sits in better.

I kept doing that and slowly closing the window to space out the plastic and now they all work just fine. I didn't have to disconnect battery or anything. But that's good to know.

Experienced pretty much the same thing as the OP minus the Weather Guard install. No mods whatsoever. In may area, there is little or no rain, snow or any of the things many folks here battle with. Highway vehicle only, garage kept...a pampered child.
Depress the auto-up button pulling up and releasing. LR window comes up, gets to the top and on it's own, drops down about 2/3rds of the way. All sorts of odd combinations take place attempting to lower/raise LR window.
Tried holding the LR button from drivers seat down and counting + up and counting and in either case, the LR window is acting on it's own. It's all over the place.
Start the vehicle, idling in Park, get in the back seat(LR) and try lowering and holding for a bit...maybe 8-10 secs. It stays down. Now I raise and it closes, also holding it for 8-10 secs. The window stays closed. I then lower and close as I always have, using the auto-up feature and all is well. The LR window stays up. Shut off engine, wait a bit; then move to the front drivers seat, That switch(LR) is also working once again.
My gut says Mr. Gremlin will return.

On a side note, already mentioned, but for reinforcement, I managed to get the window up and locked shut by creeping it up a hair at a time until it got to the top. A final nudge got it to lock closed.

If it happens again, I'll seek an independent repair shop as my experience with Toyota dealers has been anything but good.

I'm having the same problem. Nothing in the channel. Auto window goes up, hits the top of the seal, then goes down 3/4 of the way and stops. If I hit the button down the window goes completely into the door. If I hit the button up, the window goes all the way up, hits the top seal and goes back to the 3/4 open position.

I tried disconnecting the battery and that did not work.
I tired holding the button for up to 30 seconds and that did not reset the feature.

I can do short button up taps to get the window up. I suspect that this does not engage the auto feature.

I did notice there is some lateral play in the glass so I may just take the panel off and see if there is any obvious problems.

Any other ideas are appreciated.

I got it resolved. The key difference is that the key needs to be set to "ON" but the engine must not be running. Worked like a charm. thanks
