Auto window up feature

Today I converted my manual (crank) windows to power windows in my '99. When I use the 'auto down' feature the window goes all the way down. When I use 'auto up' the window goes all the way up, and then back down to halfway open. Has anyone ever had a problem like this? Any ideas for a fix?

Pretty sure you motor or gear isn’t clocked properly.
Got to be a thread on here for it. But what term to search???

That up, then half down is the auto window safety feature. It will do that if you put your hand in the window and stop iit. It’s hitting resistance before it thinks it’s all the way up.

Most toyotas need to learn max "up" position. Run window up all the way and continue to hold up for 3-5 seconds then release and recheck.

I’ve seen folks mention that move on forums for years, but yet to see some report that it worked.

No idea if this applies to a 3rd gen 4runner. But I believe you need to be looking for a procedure similar to this.
Kind of surprised someone hasn’t chimed in that knows.
