aux port on sony xplod?

I finally got the cord needed to attach my mp3 player (phone) to my cd player (Sony xplod cdx f7000). I just pulled out the deck, and the aux in hole is smaller than the tips on my cord. There is an unlabeled blue port that the cord fits into, but when I go to aux, plug my phone I., the deck shuts down. Any help or ideas appreciated.

I don't know much on those xplodes but I would think since it's Sony they have some stupid special cord for sony only. That blue port might be a ground or something and it's getting some sort of power from your phone and shutting down. Pics would help!

As much as tech support sucks, I'd call up Sony and try to find out if you are hooking it up right and then go from there. You might just have the wrong cord.

Thats what I'm hoping, its been months since I bought it, and dont recall if there were multiple sizes. Probably.

These xplode units are also famous for overheating and actually de-soldering wires themselves. My old xplode unit desoldered the wires to the front aux port, i just tossed it and bought a Pioneer.

The blue socket in the rear is labled - "REMOTE IN". Doesn't appear to be an AUX port.

Yeah, this unit came with the truck, im sure id be better off doing a slight upgrade. There doesn't seem to be an aux port, but aux is one of the three source options. Idk wtf thanks guys, upgrade coming in the near future.

I've owned 5 different Xplod units, including the f5440's in my 4Runner and Jetta right now...

The AUX in on them is going to be one of the sets of RCA jacks. It may be labeled 'BUS IN'. The unit may not support accessing those jacks without a special adapter, especially if it was built before MP3 players were common. My older units were like that, my newer ones will select 'AUX' if I press 'source', and they work with my MP3 players.

The only adapter I can seem to find online (Sony xa-300) is like $85, is almost rather just get another head unit..... but maybe I'm wrong, and there is another alternative? Gonna keep looking

I think THE DINGMAN is on the money. This pdf off the net shows your model unit info.... Looks like AUX IN is top left rear and not on front like more recent units. Hope dis helps! :keyboard:

Yeah, killer links ,info and pics for sure! I guess the xa-c30 would be the adapter of choice. However @$80+-, I think I may just get a new h/u for 20-30$ more. We'll see, I REALLY wanna have Pandora as I drive!! Thanks for chipping in guys.

FWIW if you are looking to spend $80ish on the adapter I would just upgrade the head unit. I went to one of the Xplods with bluetooth and just sync it with my phone. No cords or even need to take it out of my pocket really, all controls on the head unit control the phone's mp3 player.

It does not appear that you need the adapter for that unit, based on the manual .

yeah you can get a nice new kenwood or pioneer for around $150 these days. Everyone is going double din so single dins are cheap as hell these days.
