What features does the new model have over the old model? I've been thinking about comparing aftermarket nav models.

on the 30gb hard drive, u can only put up to 10 gb of music in it, they rest is the navigation stuff

It definetly is a thing of beauty. How did you get it to mount flush? Did you have to make new holes in the stock brackets? Also, I never heard anything about the CD-IB100 II? What's the difference between that and the original? I know pioneer states that you need a hardware change for better IPOD function but coming out with a new adapter seems fishy to me.....jdpdata said:

I too am looking at purchasing this unit in the very near future. Like you, I also have a 2004 Sport Edition. One of my biggest questions is regarding the silver bezel trim that surrounds the radio and HVAC controls... Did you modify yours in anyway? I've seen plenty of threads of people who have swapped out the trim from someone who had a single disk JBL unit or a NAV unit. Had you done this already or did you just stick with what you had...? Any help is much appreciated!

Those of you who are interested in gettting this unit. I highly recommend the guys at SuperAutoBacs in Stanton 714-903-9900 ask for James. But, they're all out. I got the last unit. They may have more in by next month.
They did an amazing install. They got my steering wheel control to work and did a perfect job mounting the GPS antenna. Sorry I can't answers any of your installation questions.
Trust me, this unit is the best out there right now. I too was going to get the Eclipse AVN. But after looking at all the capabilities of the Z1, I was sold. Be prepare to pay full MSRP for it though, these units are flying off the shelf as soon as they can stock them

Well so far the Z1 is dead-on accurate. I try to trip it up, but each time it re-route itself within a few seconds. It even pronounce most street name via voice when you're approaching a turn e.g. " In 1/2 mile turn left on Main Street" - much more convienient and accurate then "turn left in 1/2 mile".
DVD resolution is pretty good. It's not a hi-def screen or anything, but very nice. There is some glare in direct sunlight. And of course, you can't watch while driving...at least not until someone figures a way around this safety feature. I did ask the installer to ground the parking lead..but it still doesn't let me watch DVD's while driving.
Map is very detail. For instance it shows what lane you should be in on the freeway when approaching an interchange. It gives voice prompt for turning within 1/2 mile of major intersections. There are multiple map views (map view, twin view, driver's view, and a cool telemetry view). You can also tell it to overlays POI such as gas station, ATM's, shopping malls, etc... It even have special icons for popular retailers such as Walmart.
Well, there are tons of features on this thing that I haven't even play with yet. One thing it doesn't have that I wish for is RDS. But I guess when I get the XM adpater, I don't really need RDS.

It automatically (or manually if you prefer) copies CD tracks to the HD Library. Burns at 4X, so a typical CD takes about 15 minutes to copy. The manual states it will only copy from retail CD's (type you buy), but last night I successful copied music from a burned CD-R. Only copies CD audio not MP3'z.
On Pioneer website it states that you can download updates for the CDDB database to a CD-R and insert into the Z1 to update the dbase. I'm not sure if it allows NAV dbase update the same way.

And the 7000 is a 1 Din unit. My heart was set on the AVN 6600 until my friend turned me on to the Z1. It's no comparison to me.
