Reset the MPG's after I reached 'cruising speed' on the highway. 1 hour and 30 minutes between 55 & 75......avg MPG's..... 24.5!!

I can game mine to show a high number too, but it's not really indicative of the effective fuel economy of the vehicle. I managed to get mine to say 35.2 for a few minutes there. At the end of the tank, it'll be 17.7 hwy, 18.2 city.

Are those #s backwards? You should be getting better hwy than city... I think even if they are backwards that spread is unusually small.

Well homey, I was not trying to game it for a couple minutes, I wanted to see what a 90 minute normal highway drive would get me. Remember these things have 2 ratings, 17/22. You should be getting 17 around town and 22 on the highway. Well, I'm above average :lightsaber: :biggrin2:
99% of my driving is around town, rarely highway, and I was showing 17.4 before I merged so that is right in line with their specs.

Strangely, no, they're not backwards. Both my wife and I average something like 18.something noodling around in the city, rush hour, commuting, etc. If I get impatient I can get that to drop of course, and if I really take it easy I can get to 19 with a little luck.
Driving back from Montreal the best we could manage is 17.7. We had stuff on the roof that time, it was windy and really rainy, but the roof was bare with with just me coming back from Kentucky, and it managed 18.3 mpg. .5 mpg penalty for the weather not being clement is fine. But that sort of highway mileage for a vehicle billed as 22 mpg is a disappointment, and the stealership's attitude about it even more so.
I am at 12k, and tried a bunch of 87's to see what it liked best. I have discovered that it's a lot less picky than my old Toyota Matrix was - the Matrix' mileage changed by as much as 5 mpg depending on the gas brand, with Hess and Exxon being the worst, and BP being the best by far.
Not even running non-ethanol-blend gas in Canada made a difference.

Cruising speed was 70 mph avg. The trip to KY was about 75.
The Terra Grapplers are the same size as stock, run at 34 psi cold.

I just drove from Seattle to Anchorage. I did as others did here to check mileage, both city driving and highway, by resetting the in-truck computer. I noticed that I could sway the readings by resetting the meter after I was already up to speed and on cruise, or I could keep the city readings high by not resetting after a long stint on relatively flat roads and cruise.
Having said that, my mileage for a 2430 mile trip, in and out of the mountains, was 20.6 mpg. That was actual calculation of miles, not what the in-truck computer said. At the same time, the truck computer was fairly close at about 21 mpg. I was trying to keep the "Eco" light on, and was also trying to break in the engine as easily as I could, given the nature of the trip. Now that I'm home I'm a little quicker off the lights, and will now start to look at what the mileage is for my normal commute, local driving, etc. But I have to say I'm pleased with what I have seen so far.

BTW, If you were wondering, the computer maxes out at 60mpg.
It's not cheating if you reset for certain legs of a drive, it's using the tool.
I've posted these #s before but...

Lowest calculated: 15.896 (65 miles around Las Vegas, chevron 92 octane)
Highest calculated: 24.837 (333 miles from Kernville, Ca to LV, Shell 87 octane)
IMO, octane doesn't affect MPG significantly but winter gas does (MPG down approx 10%)
I would pay more for Super only if I knew it was Ethanol free. In that case, I believe it pays for itself.

Limited's aren't as nice 
78mph for the 25min-5min part.
The others are 55-60mph.
In city, it's very easy to maintain the graph in the higher 20's/30 - stay under eco-flash on acceleration (boring) and barely get it into 5th (45mph) to drop the rpm's down. These things really like 1500rpm's.

I put Michelins on a few months ago and have noticed better MPG... was getting around 19 MPG and now up to 22 MPG. I just made a trip from Denver to Crested Butte - a few mtn passes and some 4wd and finished at 21 mpg. The Michelins did well in the snow on Cottonwood Pass - they had a good snow fall over the weekend..

I averaged 19.8 US MPG over the first 5000 km's. I have about 2000 km's on the lift now, looks like I'm averaging about 19.1 US MPG
So loss of fuel efficiency from Toytec ultimate like somewhere around 3.5%
I think winter gas starts soon, so I'm expecting mid 18's for the next few months

We got our 2011 SR5 4x4 2 weeks ago and with ~ 300 miles on it we took it from Breckenridge, CO to Jackson, WY. I installed a Thule Ascent 1600 on factory crossbars before we left. We had 2 adults, 1 dog and a toddler and we averaged 22.5 mpg for the entire ~1100 mile trip. Not sure what I would've gotten if I had no cargo box. I'm impressed considering the trip is mostly mountain driving at high altitude. I seem to be averaging the same around town. since the return. The vehicle was getting 24 - 26 on the trip until we hit the 80mph section of I80 which dropped the average.
We also tooled around with 2 more adults and one baby while there (love the 3rd row).
I'm thinking about running 85 octane here in the mountains since we live at 10k above sea level. I'll do a comparison and see if it impacts mileage (although I don't see why it would).

You guys are spoiled, we are going to take delivary on our 13' 4Runner tonight and I'm leaving behind a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.7 Hemi. The power was awesome but averaging 12.2-12.9 mpg in the city was anything but awesome. This is on stock wheels and tires... If I had a lift and bigger tires I couldn't imagine how awful gas mileage would be. I was getting 18 mpg in the city while test driving the Runner.
