So I just got my Toytech ultimate lift installed, and dropped it off for an alignment. The mechanic said my axels are leaking, and will need to be replaced at some point. He said he would refill them. I see some postings on here about clamps (good and bad), and about napa cv boots. Could he be wrong about needing to replace the axels?

I have been using the marine clamps on my cv boots for several years now and they do not leak at all. I also put the clamps on my freinds 07 and they are fine also. You are not out much to try it. You will probably only need to replace one clamp on each side. It seems to be the same one on all 4th gens. The big factory clamps do not seem to leak. I think the ones I replaced are the small clamps on the boot near the center of the 4runner (not the wheel side).

Rescue Tape!!
It sounds too easy to be true, but trust me, don't spend the time removing the axles until you really need to. The Toyota axles are better than the cheap aftermarket ones (in my opinion) and unless you have been leaking / weaping for a LONG time, there is still plenty of factory lube in there.
Just for fun, I actually removed the clamps, and have NOTHING but Rescue Tape on my axles. It has not leaked a drop since, keep in mind I have 3" toytec coilovers with a steep CV angle.
You can buy in online, or at Ace Hardware... Just one tip, after cleaning everything including the boot and the shaft, clean your hands before taping it. If your fingers are greasy, the tape will give you a hard time.
Trust me, this stuff is no joke...

I tried replacing my clamps, but they started leaking again, so I said screw it and put electrical tape and duck tape on mine and it's worked for about 3 months now. When this fails I'll switch to Rescue Tape. I'm thinking the axle boot will crack first though.
