Axle housing cracked, ghetto fix for beater?

I got a bush/parts rig and the axle housing is cracked by the upper trailing arm mount. Someone has attempted a fix before.

What's the best way to do a ghetto repair on this? Can I weld it up or am I going to burn everything down? Axle is full of oil which I assume would catch on fire. I have MIG or flux core MIG. Slap some JB on and call it good?

There's lots of rust, I'd start by cleaning it all up with a flap wheel to see if the housing has rotted away to the point of failure or if it just cracked from stress.

Pick-n-pull style junkyard and just get a better one.

Put it back into position weld it then make sure your upper control arms are moving freely.

If cant weld. Best to replace the axle housing

If you can get it clean enough to weld, maybe do triangular gussets in the center of the brackets and/or plate the front and back to tie them down to the housing.

I’d just weld it and get some metal and make some gussets to reinforce the axle. Maybe even weld it and put an additional plate over that area in particular

I welded mine when it broke off.
