Hey all,
I recently had my transmission fluid flushed at my local transmission shop, just like I do every 30k.
I told them to do the usual inspection along with the flush and let me know if there is anything that needs attention. After completing the flush and inspection, I was told that everything looks unusually well maintained and running great for a vehicle with this age and miles (97 T4R SR5 4x4 w/ 230k). The only thing they mentioned that may need attention is the external cooler. It is the older style which is just metal tubing curved back and forth through some metal fins and was in pretty rough shape.
Since then, I have ordered the B&M 70264 (I think) and am attempting the install as we speak.
Everything has come along fantastically until it comes to removing the old 3/8 rubber line from the steel transmission send/return lines.
Is there a trick to removing these from the steel nipple? I have pulled and tugged every which way and cannot get them to budge. I'm afraid that I may bend the steel lines if I pull much harder. Not sure if that should be a concern or not.
I have attempted to get a utility knife up there to cut the old line, but there's just not enough space to work with. I even considered just cutting the lines off closer to the steel lines, then attempt to cut what is left off, but I'm afraid I won't have enough to work with then and will be screwed.
Anyone have any suggestions? If I could just get those off, I'd be about 30 minutes from a complete install.
