Hey guys. I'm new and will be buying a 97 within the next couple of weeks. Was pricing transmission coolers on Amazon and came across The B&M external transmission fluid filter. Just wondering if anyone has used this and recommends it. Seems like it could help prolong your transmission and fluid life.
The Magnefine is what all my vehicles have on them. The transmission only has a screen in the pan, so this inline filter will catch all the metal crap and non-ferrous stuff too. It has a 30,000 mile life but they are so easy to change out. Now I only flush every 100k miles and no more drain and fill. No need now with a good filter in the system the fluid stays clean.
This is what came out of our minivan at 129,000 miles. When you think those magnets in the oil pan are working, guess again. This paper towel was so full of metal grit the magnet was able to lift the towel just on what I was able to wipe off the magnet.
In short; If it's not circulating in the fluid, it's not wearing out the transmission nor clogging the the internal valves and passages.
