I searched every thread I could find before posting.
Dumb Question;
I have two 97s,
(After I put over 100k on the first one without so much as a sensor failure I became a Toyota believer and bought a second one lol)
1- 97 SR5 came second owner with tire size 225 70 16 (has factory door sticker of 15" but was told when dealer ran the vin they were switched to 16" by the dealers?) Two different dealers say the 225 70 16 was the new dealer installed size.
1- 97 Limited door sticker says 265 70 16
Major size difference over the SR5!
Question 1 - WTHeck is with such a wide range in tire size between the two same year 97s?
The Limited (oem sticker 265 70 16) needs tires and I am reading all I can on here, reviews, etc.
Cost is a major factor, but don't want to buy something I have to replace before 40-50k miles of 95% road driving miles, any off-roading is regular fields, anymore rougher very rare.
Other than the obvious change in speedo reading of changing tire sizes,
I notice a, sometimes considerable, difference in certain sizes verses costs so if I can save a good bit by using one size over another,,,, see where I am going with this?
The tire calculators say I can also use 245 70 16 as an alternative to the 265 75 16. Anyone notice and pros and cons having done this or what I could expect?
Question 2 - What tire size/s can I go with that wont screw up the speedo by too much say 5mph or milage too much (or anything else mechanically?) and still give me the best deal price wise?
