Back from deployment and trouble with the rig

Hello all!

I'm back again. Just in time to spend the holidays with my family and friends. I got back earlier today and was so happy to see my 4runner. I gave a friend a ride home since it was on the way.

As we went over the bridge, headed North out of San Fran, I noticed that the engine lacked power and was sputtering. The engine light came on and was blinking for less than a minute then went out.

The sputtering went away when I gave it a little more gas but returned shortly afterwards. I know I should have pulled over, but we had just gotten home and my co-worker and I wanted to get home to our families very badly.

After dropping him off I went straight home and put the 4R in the garage. I'll be calling the stealership tomorrow to see when they can get it in. I'm hoping it's just a corroded spark plug or something of the like. The 4R did sit for a bit while I was gone.

It's good to be home and back on the boards again. Looking forward to see what all of you have done to your rigs and what crazy antics you've been up to.

Feels good doesn't it?

Don't know what your car troubles are[old gas maybe?] but just wanted to say welcome home, Marine.

RAH!

Check your plugs and wires. its a 30 minute job you can do at home, without paying the stealership to do it for you.

Welcome back, and thank you for your service sir! +1 for the posts above, after that then maybe check coil packs?

Check the airbox for rodent nests. There's a chance they built a nice cozy new home in there since you were gone so long.

From one Marine to another, welcome home and Semper Fi!

Welcome home and thank you!

As others have mentioned, check the plugs, wires etc and possibly the gas is just old too.

Welcome back and thank you for your service.
Just realized you are up in Santa Rosa, about 60 miles north of me. More than happy to help in anyway I can. If the plugs and wires don't make it go away I have a few ideas and a garage in Walnut Creek.
BTW-how long was the car sitting while you were on deployment?
