I am BAAACCKK!....New 5th Gen 4 runner Owner Dunlops still suck.....
Well fellas, I had to get back into a 4 Runner. I have owned a number of toyotas over the years but none of em tripped my trigger like my 4 runner. I traded in my lovely (yet gas guzzling) 2011 Tundra Limited Crewmax last night for a 2012 SR5 4WD with premium package in magnetic grey. I will post some pics after I get some decent tires on it. I have already suffered a set of dunlop AT20's in the past on my 2004 4 Runner...hydroplaned and damn near stoved her into a ditch....I won't run those tires ever again!
I am still on the fence as to what tire to run on this 4 runner. In the past I have great success with Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's on my 4 runner, although the tread life was not all that great from what I remember (around 30-35k if memory serves). I had a set of BFG ATKO's on my old 93 Pickup and my 2008 Tacoma D cab... I liked em but they did get a little noisy after the tread wore down a bit... but hell one set was still looking great at 50K with plenty of hard wheelin on them.... I dunno.... Then there is the Michelin line.... the LTX A/T2 recently caught my eye, but I haven't seen much chatter about those tires here... (I have been lurking the last few weeks here).
I don't plan to lift this 4 runner, I think I am just going to run the factory 265/70/17 or whatever the next size up I can stuff without a lift. I don't plan to do a ton of off roading just yet in this runner as its the daily driver but I don't want to limit myself to a highway tire...even thought the reviews on the Michelin MS2 are really nice.
Anyways, I intend to take advantage of the Memorial Day sales on tires here locally... So I gotta make my mind up soon. Help me out.!!!! Please! I got 20 miles on my dunlops and just can stand it!!!! lol
