Backup Camera recommendation?

What I'm asking, is there a wire, in the tailgate, that is an ACC wire?

I did the mod so my 12v outlets are always powered, so I can't tap into that.

theres 2 wire, but its always hot. im looking at the repair manual.

but if you want to do it switched, do you mind running it off the parking light?

the only way to have the camera on is when the light is on, kind of defeating the purpose.
another way to run a wire to the trailer harness, black wire with red stripe. test with dmm.

Does the trailer harness have a reverse wire? Might be easier to splice into than the reverse light, which doesn't have a lot of slack.

No trailer reverse light usually but some of the 7 pin connectors have a power line to charge a trailer battery. As for the reverse light, it was easy to connect to on mine accessing it via the jack door.

he want the power wire to his camera to be on only with the key in acc or on position.

reverse wire at the rear tail light harness is red yellow.

he also converted his rear power outlet to be constant on so its always hot.

if he do have a jbl system in the rear, he can usually use one of the turn on wire at the amp.

dont think there is any wire in the tailgate that will be a switched power. i think its all constant hot.

The other option would be to tap into the camera/monitor wire in the front and power it from under the dash. Would take some cutting and soldering but easily done. If setup properly with relays you could make it so the reverse lights power it and also so you have a switch that manually turns it on for constant usage when needed, best of both worlds. It would need isolation though so that you don't power the reverse lights when powering the camera.
