Backup lights not working

I noticed the other night that my reverse lights aren't working. Probably haven't worked since I bought it but I rarely drive it at night so I just haven't noticed it.

Anyway, I changed the bulbs even though they appeared to be ok and that didn't fix it. I checked fuses and they all appear ok. That runs to about the extent of my electrical prowess so I need some "electrical diagrams for dummies" advice. I have a wiring diagram for the circuit.

The t4r is a 97 model 5 speed. The clutch was replaced right before I bought it. Is it possible that a switch somewhere wasn't reconnected?

Look for the back-up switch on transmission body.
Look at your schematic. Do voltage checks. (Post your schematic so others can help you.
How it works:
Typically, depending on model-year, 12V goes to back-up switch, backup switch closes when tranny is put in reverse. This puts 12V to one side of back-up light. One side of backup light should have continuity to ground.
Measure voltage across back up-light. You should get 12V across. If not, let's see your schematic so we can illustrate how to further troubleshoot..
