Backup Lights

I have been thinking about switching to the Cree LED backup lights and decided to look up how much wattage the factory bulbs use. According to Sylvania their 921's are 18W a piece. Most all the backup lights I see with the lights also around the circumference are in the 25 to 30 watt range.

In reality do the extra lights other than the main one with the added lens really do anything beneficial? I am mainly interested in usable light out without heating the housing to much. I realize backup lights are not on long but you never know. I saw the one on MOMO's thread so that's what got me looking.

One other thing I saw while looking were some small flange type lights (made like a can light) and that got me thinking. Does anyone make one of those that is waterproof and small? I have a couple backup sensors that the dealer didn't install right so they almost always beep regardless of if anything is behind me. I could pop out the two offending sensors and replace them with a single led piece for lower lighting that would hit more ground. I wish I had a lathe so I could just make them.

So what do yall think about them on the 4th gens and which ones are you using?
