Backwindow engine

Hey,
I've got a '95 tfr and the backwindow engine stopped working. The cost to exchange this thing is ridiculous (in Sweden), anybody know how I can deal with this myself?
This is a stupid way to set up a car since I can't access the back of my car, which is one of the main purposes of getting the car in the first place. I can get it open slowly but then it won't come back up, it's like there's not enough power to open the window.

Enough wining, anybody have any suggestions or should I haul my ass down the local toyota dealership and pay the $700 to get it replaced.

Cause I'm presuming that you can't bypass this manually by any chance?

Since your window is prolly already down, let the door down and gently pop off the inner (carpeted) panel of the door. Just slide your fingers under an edge and work along slowly. You'll feel the little fasteners 'give'. Once you get in there, look around for corroded connections and/or bad ground wires. You may just be in need of a good cleaning or some new grounding. Sounds like the motor can get enough juice to let the window down ( gravity helps), but not enough to push it back up. The weight of that window is about twice that of a normal door window.

Also make sure that your rear wiper is in the fully parked (up) position. There is a lockout in the system so that the rear window doesn't operate when the wiper is working, and vice-versa. It may have fallen down a little after the window was lowered.

thanks man, appriciate it and I will try it. The window is actually not down at the moment. I was able to close it by pushing it up and didn't want to risk not being able to close it again but I think I'll try what you suggested, cause I think I'll be able to get it down. That's the thing.. it feels like it could actually just be that it needs a cleaning out but I wasn't sure if I could get into the engine properly.

also, not sure on the newer runners but on mine,86, the switch is in center console, wherever yours is take it out and clean with brake cleaner, about 3 bucks at auto store, do the same to rear conections on motor, if that doesnt work i have an extra one i'll sell ya just let me know
