The process is starting.

Just trying to configure out, Coilovers, body lift, tires and wheels and the work will begin.

Could use help.

Hopefully next week.

I think the first thing however, needs new window tinting and seat covers.

To my knowledge a lot of members are satisfied with ToyTec, King, or ICON coilovers. Land Cruiser springs work very well with lifting the rear of 4Runners. Old Man Emu makes quite a few options for lifting if you're not trying to do coilovers.

Body lifts are mainly for clearing bigger tires. 285/70/16 is a common sized tire that is on lifted 4Runners.

Day 5
Like a onion, found some bad old rotors and decided to redo the brakes while getting ready for install day!

I hate doing brakes of all maintenance that I have to do on my vehicles.

Removed the upper ball joint, what a ordeal but it will be worth it.

Pressing the ball joint out of the spindle is a HELLISH nightmare.
Should not be attempted by those with no imagination for creativity.
There really is no way to explain what I am talking about unless you do it and those that have probably know what I am talking about.

And most auto parts stores don't carry the right press to get them out.

You have been warned.

Day 6
The installation

One side so far...
Now just button all the nuts bolts down...
I will add the notes later this evening when I am done.

Old UCA

Had to bend out the fire wall just a tad. Pretty darn easy.


New Light Racing SPC Arm in...


Pressing the receiver plate into the spindle. Alligator #2


Coilovers, UCA in place. Just tighten down, Drive side done.



All and all, not too bad. Scale 1-10 about a 7, would have been a 4-5, if I had the right ball joint tool and press, but a little bit of spit and Enginuity and made it happen!

I don't like the rake and I am getting a custom 2.5" progressive body lift.

Gonna make it all nice and purdy!

My progressive lift went without a hitch. I don't have the STUPID raking look.
Nice and balanced!

Got new CV axles yesterday and put them in.

Got her aligned this morning, drives great.

Gave her a bath and took a glamor shot!

Love the rig so far. Lift is clean and your progressive body lift removed rake well. As for painting, when you did the silver side trim white, did you rattle can and then clear coat? Looks almost factory!

It was, I sold it about 3 weeks ago.

Rattle can (spray can) factory color match with clear...
I may be going to black like I had on my Taco.

what size of tires and rims are you riding on?? How is the noise on those tires there, is it loud on the street??

285/70 R17s on LeveL 8 Mk6s -12 back spacing with 1.25" spacers

I am just getting the tires broken in, about as noisy as my Nitto Mud Grapplers.
But I think after a couple 1000s on them they will settle down.

Anything over 45 and they have a nice hummmm.
