Ford Development: Let’s make something amazing in a segment that has been ignored and stagnant from innovation.
Ford Sales: Great idea, but let’s not sell them in a market that is ripe with enthusiasts that have been asking for this very thing.
At least I don’t need to wonder why their stock price is dwindling…

Saw this over the weekend. My guess is that Ford doesn't want to take any sales away from the F-150 Raptor. Still an opportunity missed by Ford in the North American market in my opinion...

The article says it all pretty clearly, Profit.
We already have a Raptor with a huge profit markup for Ford, Why bring a similar truck into that market and split sales That may not have the same margin.
Fords split from cars shows they only want Huge profit vehicles, Also the article comments on it being a duplicate or similar vehicle.
"Bringing it up to the standards of North American truck buyers would allegedly be too expensive, so Ford’s decided to just not bother."
That says either those markets don't demand as much as us, or EPA standards are lower abroad. Making it an easier sell. IDK, But they do make the comment.
Also I don't have first hand knowledge, but I think the diesel off road market in Australia is huge. Seems like easy pickings.
If you can't tell, I may not be the biggest Raptor fan, So no love lost here. sorry.

When you put it like that… it does make sense, but still annoying to hear. I guess it’s no different than removing the V8 from the 4Runner lineup to give the GX a chance at better sales figures if that really is the case.
Either way, as much as I like the Raptor, the truck is physically too big for my daily needs. I live in the city and to daily drive such a big truck starts to wear me down. I already have a ½ ton Silverado which is smaller than the Raptor and I already find it too large when in certain parts of town or in downtown.
The only way I would buy a Raptor is if I sold multiple cars/truck to consolidate and reduce the number of vehicles I own, but it’s not practical enough to be my only car, and too expensive to own without downsizing the fleet. ZR2, Ranger, all make a lot more sense to me personally.
If I could give up my love of off-road, the choice on what to buy in the same price range is easy but with the desire to have enthusiast off-road capability the list of trucks I would like to daily drive are very much reduced... Tacoma unfortunately doesn't do it for my either.

I here you. I'm just coming from the mindset that you have an "X" amount of F-150 trims and the Ranger gives Ford a re-entrance into the mid-size pickup market. And I'm with you, never had any affection towards the Raptor. If I'm spending that kind of dough, I'd rather buy an SUV. But that's just me...
I do think the Ranger is a more practical option. I personally think the Raptor is overpriced given that it is a "speed-racing" pickup truck. But kudos to Ford for making something that people will buy brand new and eat that depreciation year in and year out.

Probably saw the writing on the wall that midsize trucks don't sell in any real numbers unless it's the Tacoma, and that "premium" models wind up costing as much as half the full size models on the lot and most people will go for the bigger truck.

The factory suspensions on these GM and Ford trucks put anything Toyota sells to shame. They also have bigger engines instead of the gutless 3.5L.

I really like trucks, I still have one, but ever since the 4Runner came into my life I really started to enjoy the SUV lifestyle, especially as a daily driver since I don’t always need a truck bed.
I would be very much interested in a Bronco Raptor… I would consider replacing my 4Runner with something like that.

I don't understand Ford's logic at all on this. Chevy launched the ZR2 and now AEV is stepping in and collaborating with GM on building the Bison, Toyota has their TRD line that is doing well... It seems Ford may be putting too many eggs in their basket for this new Bronco.
