Bad Odor From A/C

Yes, believe it or not we use the air conditioner from time to time in Alaska.
Every time I turn off the A/C I get an obnoxious odor in the truck. The A/C works fine, it just stinks up the cabin after I turn it off.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix it?

This might be a stupid question but have you checked the cabin filter to see if it is dirty?

If new filter doesn't solve the problem

The club lexus forum has quite a list of posts. Search for mildew and you will see the ways to solve the problem. I had the same problem. I ended replacing the cabin filter, fogging the intake areas when a product designed to mask the odor but finally used - http://www.keep-it-kool.com/treat/treatment.html

go to club lexus, seach "mildew" and you will see a number of posts.

Try this fram fresh breeze filter it has arm & hammer baking soda to absorb foul smelling air.Also if you have access to a air compressor,take out the filter and use a blow nozzle to clear the blower motor fan blades and the vents to get out dust and whatever else is in there.http://www.fram.com/products/airFilters.php

Thanks, I'll try one of them next time I change the filter. Yesterday I got one from the dealership and installed it.
So far the odor hasn't returned.

Good deal,They say to change every oil change but if isn't too dirty just blow it clean with compressed air.
