Bad starter?

Sounds like the starter is stuck engaged with the fly wheel with the exception something missing some teeth not sure if its flywheel or a starter... Would hope starter. Or the starter isn't engaging anything just spinning inside itself .

Yeah sounds like the starter. I recently had some sounds like that but only for a split second when the engine turned over. I was told its the contacts scraping against the fly wheel. To be safe I would disconnect the battery, I've heard some horror stories about starters continuing to engage even when the key is out and catching on fire

Fixing your OEM Denso starter yourself would have been a more affordable option and you probably would have held onto a better starter unless the remanufactured one was a Denso as well.

It wasn't OEM.

And was 77 bucks.

It wasn't stuck. It wasn't engaging at all. Had it tested at work, and showed fine, but was grinding pretty bad.
