Bad vibration on my 99 4R, can't tell what it is. Please help!

I have a 1999 4R with the 4 cylinder engine. Just in the past couple of days it has developed a bad vibration and I have no idea what it is.

It happens when I am accelerating under stress, like going up a hill for example. It seems to happen mainly above 30 mph. I can be cruising along fine but when I accelerate to increase speed or to go up a hill I start getting crazy vibrations and it almost feels as if the engine is bogging down and sputtering under stress as I accelerate. I don't think the engine is really sputtering, I think the vibrations make it seem that way. I can't tell if its the engine or what. It seems to smooth out at certain speeds, as long as I am not accelerating hard.

When the car is in park I can rev the engine as much as it can stand and it doesn't vibrate. It idles fine and seems to run smooth as silk.

Does anyone have any idea what this vibration can be?

Sounds like a bad U-Joint to me.

When I see threads on vibration issues it just makes me smile. I think my runner is the king of vibrations and jitters. I have like a 7 page thread on it.

Like Dous said, sounds like a u joint. I had the same issue a while back, and it was an injector. Anything above 2000 rpms started to shake really bad. But in that case your ecl would be on. good luck

More info:
I started from a dead stop going up a hill and the vibrations began at around 18 mph and continued until I topped the hill. I topped the hill at 30 mph and coasted down the other side with no vibrations at all up to 35 mph. When I accelerated to start up the next hill, the vibrations started again.

It only happens when I am accelerating. There are no vibrations at any speed when I am coasting. Is that consistent with a bad U joint?

Yeah my u joint would vibrate at highway speed like 60-70 but if i hit 75 it would go away. Just change it and see what happens.

Ujoints. Mine would vibrate under load/acceleration, but coast and rev smoothly. Didn't seem to have that much slack, but ujoints fixed it right up. Easy.
