bad vision! your needed!

I rebuilt my engine 15k ago and am rebuilding it now for the same issue that you're having. I was burning about a quart of oil every 4-5 hundred miles. My issue was the rings didn't seat properly due to a bad bore. Seeing as you have excess crank case pressure and you already have a new pcv, I would check and double check your valve cover. Make sure that there isn't any blockage in the baffle. Also make sure that the rubber grommet for your pcv valve isn't pushing down on the inside of the baffle. Check your pcv valve and pcv breather hose and be sure they're not getting clogged up.

If all of the above fails then my bet is that your rings aren't seating. The only two things that will cause excess crank case pressure is rings not seating and the pcv.

Good luck!

sv... when i pull my pcv valve out the gromet stays in the hole. it sounds like i pop a basketball when i pull the pcv valve out. wouldnt that tell me that the gromet is not hitting and that the baffle isnt clogged? what can a guy do about a bad bore? just replace the rings i hope>>>>

I don't want to assume anything based on a sound of pulling the pcv out. I would take off your valve cover and inspect and clean it from top to bottom. Get some compressed air and hit the inside of the baffle with it through the pcv ports. Make 100% sure that there isn't any blockage in there.

As far as what you can do about a bad bore... Well, in my case with my engine it was just a bad hone. All the machine shop had to do was re-hone it and hot tank the block. They also had to do work on my head, one of the valves wasn't sealing. It had too much burnt oil in it due to the time and amount of oil I was burning. You may want to have your head checked out as well if it comes to that. For you, I would expect the worst and hope for the best as I did. I would expect to have to have a little head work done for the valves, re-bore the block and replace your pistons and rings to a larger size. Best case scenario: your head is good and clean, your bore is good, your pistons are good, and you only have to re-hone the cylinders and replace the rings.

However, you won't know any of that until you get the block to a machine shop.
