Lots of questions here and they seem to all center around how it is mounted. Basically, the lower portion slips over the hatch (like a clamp) and bolts hold the ladder to the clamp. You don't have to drill or mount any bolts in your rear hatch for this. The upper portion slips over the top of the hatch and is secured by 2 small bolts on the inside of the upper hatch that press fit it into place. It's hard to describe but I'll try and take photos this week sometime and post them up here. As you can see, I have a savage rear bumper and the ladder clears the bumper by about 1/2'' when it's closed. It does rub when I wheel because my rear bumper flexes and hit it on occasion.

The GOBI is another option, all a matter of personal opinion. I personally like the bend in it as I think it flows better with the rear hatch.

I'm sorry to be all negative... but what purpose does the ladder serve?? I access the roof by standing on the tires and sliders?

Sure it's functional to reach my roof rack and all that good stuff but if I'm honest, I should say - If "we" are honest, it's mainly there for looks. Let's face it, the ladders look bada**! :guitar3:

And yes, it mounts very similar to the Gobi. It WILL NOT fit over a Jaos Spoiler as the spoiler sticks out from the rear hatch.

How does it mount to the roof rack? And is there any specifications of a roof rack needed? Once I get another couple paychecks in i'm heading up to north florida to pick up WMW rack, and wanted to make sure they're compatible.

It doesn't mount to the roof rack. It mounts to the rear hatch so there is not attachment with the rack. No specifications needed for a roof rack because they are completely separate units. I have Whitson Metals Works Rack & this Baja Ladder, no problems.

You don't need a rack or any specific rack. Read back through this thread, and you will see that it mounts strictly to the rear hatch.
