Baja rack with Gobi ladder problem

For reference, here is my Baja Flat Utility Rack mounted with Gobi Ladder.

Both purchased and installed in 2015. As mentioned in my previous post, I believe one of the vendors addressed the clearance issue.

Mine clears perfectly with no modification and no rubbing.

Hope this helps with anyone making this decision currently.

Do you know what issue the vendors addressed?

Your brackets look like they are mounted facing the rear. The one coversion posted face the front. Can you change your mounts?

Gobi Ladder, BajaRack

Hi Guys, my Gobi ladder finally came in and thought it would fit with my Baja rack seeing some of the other guys here have done it. The top of the ladder, where is says 'GOBI' comes into direct contact with the back bar of the Baja at only half open. Any suggestions?

I'll be facing the same problem in a couple of months when I get my BajaRack flat Utility Rack and want to add a ladder. I hope to design one that climbs up the side of the car at the middle of the rack. It may be something bearing on top of the tire that has to be set in place to use it and removed before driving away. Not as convenient as something that's always in place on the back hatch door but in a better location for reaching the rack. We'll see what shakes out when I try to design it.

The OP is 2&1/2 years old so by now either he solved the problem or got rid of the ladder/rack. Jackson may have hit on the problem but I can't see it that way from the two photos in the first post and conversion's photos. My take on this would be to move the ladder out away from the hinged side of the door so when the door swings up 90 degrees the ladder is farther up above the rack. I'd make an intermediate flat plate of the same thickness with holes for the Gobi mount bolts and holes an inch or two back to bolt the ladder on, far enough back so it clears.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. As stated, the original post is quite old. I have the BajaRack standard basket rack and a Gobi ladder, both purchased within the last 6 months and they work fine together. No clearance issues at all.

Has anyone done the reverse? Baja ladder with a Gobi rack? I like how the Baja ladder because it installs off to the side more. Any comments also on the Gobi vs. Baja ladder?
