BajaRack Mule or Mega Mule

I am looking at baskets and have narrowed it down to the BajaRack Mule or Mega Mule. I like the looks of their product, and it has a height of 5" versus the comparable Yamima baskets that are 7.5". I'm just not sure if the Mega Mule is too big looks wise for the 5th gen. I want to do a basket because I could easily remove it if needed, and wouldn't have to worry about water intrusion at the bolts. Any help is appreciated.

Well, here's my 5th gen with that early Chinese made job on it. IIRC it measured about 6" high on the sides. Just for a visual reference until someone posts a Baja rack.

I get the part about removing it, but water intrusion shouldn't be a concern if you do it right. I've had my BajaRack for 3 years without any water inside. All I did was put silicone around the posts and teflon tape around the bolts.

I plan on keeping it 10 years. The more you mess with stuff like that, it seems it turns around and bites you later. Id rather not worry about it ya know? Plus cant really justify the $ for the racks lime that. Thanks for the pic 3WB.

Don't get a steel rack then if you are worried about rust or water. There will eventually be rust, if you install right You probably wouldn't have any water issues, coming from someone that didn't install right and had a leak!

You live in a place where it rains a little so I can understand the concerns.

Oh I am not worried about the rack rusting, like I said just where water ends up when you start messing with stuff...

I broke down and went with the gobi stealth ranger. I couldn't be happier in all honesty... i though about going baja, but after talking with 3wb, it helped make my decision to go to GOBI.

I used silcon and thread as i installed it and it was very smooth operation and sealtant. I've had 3" of rain with zero leaks/issue.

I'm currently looking to buy a Mule as I think the MegaMule is too wide for my taste and will look odd with almost 4" larger than OEM roof rack.

My only concern is the height. If I had the budget I would go for a permanent full rack...

It's really just a gobi ranger versus gobi stealth. But when I ordered mine they listed it as gobi stealth ranger. Only difference is 2 inches I believe in height of the frame rails.

Stupid question, how do people wash under the full racks like Gobi and such? Or do you just not care lol? I'm the first to admit I have ocd when it comes to my vehicles. The bolt on Baja Rack I can sort of see, since the slats have openings in between, but the Gobis with the mesh I dont know, unless you slide a rag under the whole thing.

A Swiffer works great for getting in between the rack and the roof. There are a few ways to get creative and clean that area
