In the midst of all my electrical projects, I've also been doing some painting. I put 2 coats of POR-15 on my rear lower control arm mount skids:
and the rear diff skid:
I still want to touch up some paint on the underside of the truck before I install them.

Awesome they look neat I'll have to check them out. I may do these if my budget doesn't allow BSS stuff. The price difference isn't huge but its still a couple bucks that could go elsewhere.

The inverter is mounted. A pic of the cables coming through the floor just before connecting them to the inverter:

Then I moved to the cargo area to mount the AC outlet back there. I don’t have a cargo cover, so I ended up securing it to the rear cover latch piece. I used zip ties and it came out very clean and sturdy. I put an extra screw into the cover piece just for the added robustness while plugging/unplugging cords into it.
It works great and doesn’t move at all. I have a 100' red 14 guage extension cord that I will keep in the truck, to use with this outlet. With the extension cord plugged into it:
I also ran the wires for, but still have to mount the inverter’s remote control in the center dash, and the double AC outlets in the center console.

Amazing build, you're attention to detail and skills are a true force of nature.
I just can't believe you drive this unit in our MI winters......keep it up and it'll rot right out from underneath you. Then all your hard work and hard earned $ will be for naught.
Mine only see's the snow when I open the pole barn door in the winter.....can't replace it so I have to make it last me forever. Hate that we have to deal with the rust belt sh.....tuff but it is what it is.
Breaks my heart to see a quality rig like what you've put together get slowly eaten to pieces. No amount of rust proofing, undercoating or repainting will stop it.
I'm not that far from you....just a bit north.

Thanks for your compliments and your concern. I agree its almost impossible to stop the rust, but I will delay it as much as possible. What other choice is there when living in MI? :hello:
So the rustoleum and other paint on rust preventers don't really work or what?

They can slow it down, but in the rust belt you are going to get rust! No doubt about it.

That's no fun though, idk I have a more respect for people who use their classic vehicles than the mint ones that live inside. My 4runner is a good example. Super clean when I got it, and still is since I take care of it, but I still have no qualms of raking branches down the side on a trail, burying it in a mud hole, or driving it in winter for that matter. Its a car its meant to be used lol.
To keep the rust away I drench the underside with fluid film before every winter and it still looks brand new. I swear by the stuff now and a huge plus is that it is environmentally friendly.

I agree with MTD. I bought and built this vehicle to use daily, not to have sit in a garage for 6 months every year. Plus I used to drive beaters when I was a young kid with no money. I don't care to drive them when I'm 45.
