Finished painting the switch housing tonight. The color matches the center dash pretty close.

Waiting on my air compressor and locker switches from OTRATTW. Then I'll post a pic with all the switches in the housing.

I'm an idiot!

Well, I mentioned a short while back that my 4wd wasn't working after my buddy and I swapped in the new diffs. Turns out that we didn't swap the stub shaft from the old diff to the new one. Oops! :redface:

"You neglected to pull out your stubby shaft?" <- That's what she said.

Jeez, I feel like an idiot.

So I have to give props to Chase at ECGS. When I emailed him about the problem, he immediately new what was wrong. Then he went through the trouble of locating my core diff that I had already returned, removed the stub shaft and is sending it out the same day. Not only that, but he won't even let me pay for its shipping.

Now that is customer service!

Can't wait to get my stubby shaft back in, and use 4wd!

Does anyone know if the stub shaft can be installed without removing the entire front diff? Like just remove the ADD tube and install the shaft?

Among all the other things I have going on (diffs, lockers, on-board air, roof rack build, etc...), I've also been working on my switch panel I mentioned earlier. I have it pretty much completed, I just need to paint it yet. Here is what it looks like on the center dash:

Going to paint it metallic silver to match the center dash trim. The hazard switch is still accessible, and the vents can still be rotated, even though they look covered up in the pic.

I really like this. It's very unique. I was playing around with the idea of doing this when I built my roof rack but decided I didn't have the means of doing it. How did you do it and have you considered building and selling these?

Thanks a lot. I designed the part in CAD and built it via rapid prototype machine. I have sold the CAD file to another member, but haven't considered building them to sell.

I got the rest of my switches in from OTRATTW yesterday, so I installed them into the switch housing. They aren't wired up yet, but I just wanted to see how they looked.

Thanks, the switch bodies are #V1D1JCHB. They have red upper dependent light and green lower independent light.

Update: I got my 4wd back! WooHoo! :whoo:

My buddy and I were able to put the stub shaft in the front diff without removing the diff from the truck. We just removed the ADD tube from the diff, installed the shaft, and put everything back together. It only took about 2 hours.

Since I had about 700 miles on the new diffs (suggested break-in period is 500 miles), we also drained the diffs and refilled them with fresh gear lube.

One question: When we drained the rear diff, the oil was "silvery shiney" and had sort of a metallic look to it. Is this normal when breaking in new gears?

Hmm, sounds like you got some moisture or water in there. You didn't happen to snag a pic did you?
