Well, I guess there is no going back now. I just cut a big hole in my fender.

And here's a few pics of the main tube and head cleaned up and ready for paint:

You honestly should consider selling just the body. The hood scoop head you can keep as a one off. We could just buy a Safari Snorkel head off amazon.

Put the final coat of paint on the snorkel parts today:

So tomorrow is the big day. It finally gets installed.

I've officially been snorkelized! The snorkel is finally finished.

That's a pretty sweet "Chimney"!

Awesome work! It looks great, it really flows with the the body of the 4Runner and I like the aggressive lines of the snorkel intake.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am really happy with the way it turned out.

I think I turned a few heads while driving in to work this morning. Got a few strange looks too. Haha.

I'm the kind of guy who is a perfectionist and goes WAY overboard on everything I set my mind to accomplishing. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes not.

Well typically when I see "snorkel build" I assume it is some guy going to Lowes to buy some PVC pipe and throw one together. This is the only snorkel (other than the safari snorkel) I'd use on my rig. Once again just awesome work and next time I see you building something I am going to have high expectations. :thumb3:

Yeah, I was just giving you a hard time. I agree, most homemade snorkel builds turn out looking like a plumbing experiment gone horribly wrong.

I was taken finals all last 2 weeks and the only thing i could think of the whole time was how it was going to look... k just kidding about that last part, but seriously that looks EPIC. Yeah, that can be an issue. There are times when my wife has to work evenings and/or weekends, and that is when I do most of the 4Runner projects. When we're both home at the same time, then its Wifey time.

I have a 4th and 5th gen, so this snorkel isn't too relevant to me but that is amazing! Super awesome design and finish! You should sell the plans to someone to produce them. I'm sure you would give some of the bigger guys a run for their money.

Now, I just have to wait for you to buy a 4th gen and start making parts for it. hahaha...jk.
