Battery light keeps flashing!!!

What maybe causing battery light flash on and off. When light flashes instrument head lights and heater dims til light goes away. I checked ground on battery and it looks clean. Any suggestions.

My first inclination would be the alternator. Might want to have it checked asap. The funny sounding thing to me was that the problem went away, possibly the alternator is about to die or something.

Should be able to test it free at Advance Auto or the like.

Its likely that your charging systems not working properly. If you can, I would start by checking the voltage on the battery while at idle to determine if its the alternator causing the light to come on

Alternator is about to go.

On a side note: A car I owned years ago did this for 3 days before the alternator finally gave in.

just a warning .... if your alternator is not performing and your vehicle is still running but with the battery light going on / off, then it is possible the operation of the vehicle is actually draining the battery as you drive it. If all that is happening then it will just die while you are driving it somewhere.

definitely have the alternator checked out had a similar problem with a honda battery light was on and then everything went nutz on the gauge cluster ... good luck

Well, since no one else has mentioned it, I'll point out that your alternator might be going out.
