Battery recommendation

2008 V6 SR5 4Runner.

Looking for a replacement battery. Looking for something that will be the same size as the OEM and fit like a glove without any modifications? Live in northeast PA and winters are a bit on the cold side so looking for something that will stand up in the cold when needed.

Some are going to recommend a $250-$300 battery, others like me will say go to AutoZone and drop $115 on a Duralast Platinum. I've got the same warranty they do, tons of reserve capacity, and all the CCA I'll need for the below zero weather that I'll see in a couple of months...and I saved over $200 for groceries.

Heck, the guy at AutoZone even installed it for me for free and I didn't have to touch a thing except my debit card.

WOW - you must have a great dealer near you. I was just at my dealer last weekend pickup up a couple of bulbs for my HVAC controls. They had a special going on for a New Toyota battery - Only $240 + $50 for installation.

The battery that came with your 4runner is made by Panasonic. The OEM replacement you buy from your local dealer is made by Johnson Controls. Same company that makes the Sears Diehard and Optima batteries.

I say get one from where ever is most convenient for you warranty wise (just in case). If you stick to the top distributors like Autozone/Costco/Sears you really can't go wrong, I believe they are all manufactured by Johnson Control. IMO if you're looking for a good overall value, you really can't beat Costco's offerings. If you're going for utmost quality then I'd say a Sears Diehard Platinum would fit the bill.

Which of these sizes is the same as the original battery, 24F or 27F? What is the main difference between these two?

We have reversed battery terminals

OEM for 4th gens was the 27F. If you want to double check, just look at your battery, there should be a part#/model# on it somewhere

Hey guys/gals, thanks for all of your help on this question! I mistakenly left my backdoor opened all night while parked inside my garage, forgot to close it after I was cleaning the inside of the car the night before. Next morning found it and the inside dome light stayed on the whole night. Have been noticing a few rough starts and I think I will replace it before the battery goes on me. Winter is coming anyway, so just as well.
