Battery size

I have a 2005 4runner SR5, original battery. Its time to replace it and the current one in there is a Panasonic. I went to Walmart (Everstart) and checked their chart and they stated I can use either a 35N or a 24FN. I looked at both and noticed they are smaller than the one I have in there now. I took measurements and found that the 27N is the same size as the one in my 4runner.

So my question is, can I put a 27N to replace it? Or is there something about the 24FN and 35N that they require and do not want the 27N in there?

Also, I looked for the code to tell me the manufacturer date and all I could find was two characters, D0. Am I to assume that the D is April and 0 is 2010? I couldn't find any other codes on the battery itself.

you can put almost any battery u want in there, just make sure the terminals are on the correct sides

Wal-Mart batteries aren't the best battery out there. probably one of if not the worst. Optima batteries come highly recommended as well as Interstate. Wal-Mart might have a decent warranty but it doesn't do you any good at 2am and your car won't start and the womans husband is chasing you.

The Toyota OEM replacement battery is a good choice as well. They offer two grades; the better one is the TrueStart with an 84-month warranty. Going rate for the 27F TrueStart is about $90.

I prefer to stay away from the NeverStart batteries. Interstate, DieHard and Delco are my prefs.

You need to be sure your replacement battery has equal or greater CCA capacity than the original AND the terminal arrangement matches, as stated above. Physical size is up to you and how much you want to modify the hold downs.
