Battery Tie Down Question

I bought a new battery at Wally World about a year ago because it just crapped out after 4 years. Didn't want to start and/or crank over. Got the new battery and installed it, problem fixed! Now when I look at it, I see that the Tie Down for the battery has corrosion underneath it where it holds the edges of the battery.

I think its factory setup, but i'm not too sure.

So my question is has anyone installed an aftermarket setup or kinda rigged it their own way? I am leaving for the J.O.B. here soon so i'll add pictures later tonight (11:30pm). If ya'll have pictures of your setup please upload so i can copy , LOL. Thanks in advance. -Proud T4R Member

Only real after market battery boxes are designed for Optima batteries. I have a Ballistic Fab box holding my Red Top Optima. Blue Torch Fab and Camburg both offer boxes to Hold Optima Batteries. I will upload a picture later on when I get off duty.

That sounds awesome. I want a Yellow Top pretty bad, and when I get it, I surely don't like the very mediocre bar of a battery mount to be the only thing holdin her down.

Can't wait to see the pic. How much did such a box run?

Thanks for the tips guys! Just now got the chance to reply. I will try the brush, prime, and paint path first. Funds are pretty tight in this family, lol.

Mine corroded all the way through. I put an aluminum strap across the top of the battery but it did not hold.

Can anyone recommend an aftermarket battery hold-down setup? Or should I just pop for the factory clamp?

On one of the discount Toyota sites......(check the link in my sigline)

I think I got one for a 2001 4runner for like $14 or something like that....not terrible, but with the $8-10 minimum shipping it's worth it to order some other parts at the same time.

Sorry I got real busy with work and other things and havnt posted the pic yet. I will do that tonight or tomorrow for sure. As far as price goes, the Blue torch Fab(BTF) is around $59+ shipping, Ballistic Fab is the one I went with and was $39+ shipping and the Camburg one is around $99.
