Alright guys and girls, a few people have expressed some interest in getting together to hit up Hollister so I thought I'd get something started to see who was serious and who was just using the rainy weather as an excuse not to go...

So here it is a couple dates in the coming weeks to get us together. I chose Sundays as the park is much less crowded and would be more fun to be in a group w/o dealing with a bunch of other trucks.

Hope to get some of you 'city' kids off the pavement!
:D

im down, but I have to say that a week day trip is much less crowded, but I understand that it's hard to get everyone out. I freelance so.... :D

im for sure down to get together. i chose the 15th but the 29th would work for me too.

looking like it will be partly cloudy towards the end of the week next week so it should be a nice weekend to take the trucks out and have some fun. so um is anyone else running 295/70/17's? i need to do some more trimming haha as going into driveways and turning the wheel slightly im still getting rubbing on the front fender liners. all in all im totally down and can't wait. i should be taking care of the rubbing this weekened. just need to find a place that i can stop on the incline and see exactly where the rubbing is.

I can add a day trip instead of "other" in the poll. I have off from 4/13 - 4/17 with no plans...

:biggrin2:
4/13-4/17 - why dont we get ruffyian to get some people together and we can hit up Iowa Hill. It's 45 min past sacramento, and a lot more scenic than hollister. I'd love to go back to that place when 90% of the trails aren't closed!

it's a great spot to camp and to bbq/picnic by the lake, or by the river.

What do you think?

I'd love to go on my first off-roading adventure!!

I wonder if I'll get my...

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo
or
Yokohama Geolander A/T

...installed by then.

If not...Jamie can I ride w/ you?

As you already know...I'm in San Francisco too.

Pritchnakoff ... love to meet you to, since you're local.

Hey Dude, either place we'd go to (hollister or Iowa Hill) you can drive with a fully stock truck. There are harder trails that you should stay away from, but if you have a 4runner, you might as well bring your's to see what it can do.

Jamie

well said Jamie, plus a stock 4R is probably more capable than several other modified vehicles.

I did get a response from Ruffian surrounding a mid-week wheel in the Sierras. She is off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and while she is not familiar with Iowa Hill (she says mostly fire road type driving) she's happy to go there and also suggested another place a bit farther that we might consider an overnight trip?

Maybe we should try a Hollister run and then hit up the Sierra trip afterwards? Let me know what you guys think.

Why is it so hard to get some responses from the SF area I KNOW there are more wheelers out there :bash:

Because they are all heading to the snow.

I'm going to sit it out this Season...going to save money, but I may want to embark on my off-roading adventure.

...Finally!!!

i vote for the end of march cause i have concerts in the city on the 15 and ill be in dland that weekend in april

Are those trails 2WD doable?

I have a buddy w/ a 2WD version of the 4th Generation.

Yes. i was in 2WD most of the day, even through the very deep mud pit. I was in mud up to my bumper in 2WD and was getting through it just fine. I used 4WD for the hell of it in a few select spots, to get my money's worth, ya know?

My friend just told me that we can rent ATV's near by, so I might spend half the day riding quads and the other day in the OHV park. They are less than 1 miles apart.

Oh guys...I am jealous! I haven't ever wheeled CA but very interested to. I used to live in Los Altos and moved before my wheelin days - luckily to CO though! :bigok:

KC, you'll have no problem. I have been running some trails with the co4lo guys (who are quite amazing off roaders) and had no problems running it stock. However, after this week, she will no longer be stock!!!! 3" lift, sliders, and bull bar being installed this week! :dancin:

Anyway guys, back to topic, have a great trip and post some pictures!

so are we down for a 29th trip to hollister then? i would be so in. if there is anyone from the east bay that wanted to caravan out there i would be happy to meet up with you.

KC needs a ride.

29th is on.

Yeah guys, 3/29 is game on!

Jamie, thanks for getting the 4/15 trip posted - I was going to ask you to lead that one as I am rolling to Paris for 10 days right before that.

Back on track, I'll give this some more time to generate some interest over the next week or 10 days then we can get down to some real planning. Jamie, I think you had done it right last time with a little BBQ action mid-afternoon with an early AM departure. I wouldn't mind sticking to that plan.

Should be fun guys; looking forward to meeting you all!

It took me 1:30 to get to hollister from SF on a sunday morning. I picked up a friend in San Mateo and we left his place by 815am I think. No traffic, easy drive.

I can't wait.
