12-24" predicted here.
I'll be driving home 50 miles from Columbia Md (work) at around 9pm Friday night, the storm should be in full swing by this time! I figure it should take me AT LEAST 3 hrs to get home. This drive usually takes me 1 hr during normal conditions.
I have a full compliment of water/food/blankets/recovery gear ready to go in the back- truth is I would probably be quite comfortable with my Jetboil, coffee, Mt House meals, and full comfy sleep setup if I were to get stranded on the road...:biggrin1:

I grew up in Columbia. I am actually very jealous of not being up there, mainly because I'm a Earth Science teacher/Meteorology Geek and want the snow days! My parents still live there so I'll be getting updates through them. Stay safe, and take your time shoveling! There were over 20 deaths due to shoveling in the 2010 storm and also in the 2003 storm. Some of the people were in their early to mid 30's!
In saying that I can't wait to see the pics!!!!

Most likely, at least all of the schools are closed already so you won't have to worry about the kids/buses.

I was in Dover De. in 2010 also. We were snowed in out in the country at a relatives house. 2 feet, then a day off, then 2 more feet. The rural country road was not plowed and had 4 feet on it. We missed our flight and after a couple more days the plows came. If you needed medical help forget it. No way in or out. I've been through several 2 footers here in Denver but nothing like that 4 ft 2010 storm on the east coast. Up in ski country here they get the big ones like that though.

That storm was crazy! I still own a row home in downtown Baltimore. Told my tenants to make sure to shovel the rooftop deck. That was a PITA! Other then that I loved how everything was shut down in the city for a week. Kept having to tow vehicles with less than 9 inches of ground clearance off of my street with my old 2006 Xterra. The only thing open was the bars and everyone's could just let their dogs run out and enjoy the snow in the streets!

Had the 2015 TRD during all the snow for the 2014-2015 winter and the stock Terra Grapplers were great.
Came home from the Navy Women's Basketball game in Annapolis around 8:00pm last night to the surprise "dusting" (which turned out to be about 1" on non-prepped roads) and they still didn't slip once while driving carefully (18K miles on them).
My daughter and I were surprised at the number of accidents we saw on our 12 mile, 45 minute ride home. 3 cars flipped on their sides in ditches and 4 spinouts with heavy front end damage.
Once in the neighborhood, without other cars around I was a bit less cautious. Braking, turning and accelerating a bit more aggressively than on the main road and the tires would not give up the confident grip easily.
You should be fine in your new TRD with the Terra Grapplers! Congratulations! I would be more worried about the other yokels driving around you while on your new rig's maiden voyage home.

Right on! I will always say that Ohio drivers are the best in the snow. Nice choice in car, too! I drive a 1990 E30 right now. Two years ago I drove my 2000 M5 back from ohio in the snow for 4 hours on summer tires. That...pushed my driving limits.

NYC here.... only expecting about a foot. I'm excited though. I've been in beautiful Florida the past 4.5 years so ill finally be able to play in the snow again haha

The Quattro with real snow tires is awesome in rough winter conditions.
The WRX is a great machine with snows although I'd opt for Xice or Blizzaks. But doesn't the 4Runner have nearly 2x the clearance?
