The Beast is getting modded PIAA lights 520 x 2 up front and up top Yakima rack and rear facing rectangular lights x 2 wired to interior left of steering wheel next to diff lock. Gas can folding clips on rack and interior center console gun safe with lock. safari bar final addition.

Will post picks as Beast pics up a few tricks.......... :artist:

Based on the title I was hoping to see some kind of trick volcanic ash removing system:lmao: How you makin out with Redoubt? I guess I should look in Off Topic, haven't been in there in a while.:bash:


Seriously though, mods sound cool. Lookin' forward to pics and details. I am very interested in your roof rack/lights/gas can brackets. Sounds cool :bigok:

Hey Alaskaman, how/where are you going to mount the PIAA's on the front? I've been pondering the idea of a Westin bull bar and skid plate up front to mount the lights on, but I'm not totally sold on the looks of the Westin. Plus, I'm worried about the bull bar and skid plate making the already poor approach angle of my 4th gen even worse. See my avatar :)
 
I am putting the PIAAs through the plastic bumper with a thin stainless steel plate and washer assembly at least at this point I think so. there is another member here who mounted them on a metal plate which rode just above the bumper a very good approach. I don't want lights to be the first point of contact to the front of my vehicle. Adding the safari bar which is fixed to the frame should help.

Hey G.I.G., have you taken a look at the defiant light bar? it won't mess with your approach angle and it will be at the same level as the top of your bumper. I was thinking about doing what alaskaman did but i didn't have the guts to drill into the bumper.

Those do look cool, but I'm with Alaskaman, I'm a bit concerned with the lights being the first point of contact on the front of my 4R.

Alaskaman, thanks for the link to that mod. A10MileHusker lives in Denver so I might have to hit him up for his expertise! Did you choose to go with the PIAA 520 fogs or driving lights?

3 eruptions today. light ash like grey paint. Beast has air intake covered with 30 weight plastic. have to lift it out carefully in the am. garage coming soon. Airport is shut tighter than a reformed street walker.

Yeh, airplane engines don't do well on ash...:( I like that pic. Right in front of the FSDO just for me:D

Very, VERY, nice! I like the PIAA's mounted directly to the front bumper. It looks really clean and sharp that way. Did you follow A10MileHusker's wright up or did you do it differently? I know he has the pre '06 grill but both you and I have the newer grill. Any pics of the installation process and/or the switch you used? Did you use a Toyota switch to mount it in a blank near the steering wheel? One last annoying question re the lights: Did you go with the 520 fog lights, driving lights, or ATP lights and why?

Also curious if you have some pics of the gun safe. I applied for my CCW permit a couple months ago and plan on bringing my Beretta .40 on camping trips, etc. It would be nice to be able to lock it up safely when I don't have it on me.

and Thanks. I am pleased...... just waiting to see if the roof basket clears the garage opening on the house I bid on before putting on the lights.
 
Thanks men. appreciate the positive. we were going to use the 2x6 from A10MileHusker but found the bumper width is smaller so we put them through the bumper with a metal plate 2x2 on the bottom and just used a washer on top. we wired them to the round metal rod and brought the switch to the dash on the PIAA push button with the kit. I wanted to see if that worked for me before deciding on the final placement of the switch. will bring it to a blank.....but the PIAA push button on and off is good, not sure yet I went with the 520 driving lights. they are soft and bright white when on and throw a nice pattern down to the side up and on the road, a sophisticated light. if you can believe it I had to see a doc while the guys did the work so sorry no pics. Glad they look sharp and thanks men. Came out well. will take some pics of the wiring behind the radiator and the PIAA on/off button.

I just ordered the PIAA 520 ATP (all-terrain pattern) kit. It should be here in a few days. I'm only looking to use them for off-roading and camping so I wanted them to be big and bright!
