Because drilling into your dash hurts

Ugh... I'm gonna have to post more pics aren't I...

Yes please!

I use a TechDeck in my Tacoma but am needing good ideas for the upcoming addition to our stable in the way of a 5th Gen T4R. I could bolt a ram ball to the right side of the dash but would rather not if I have to.

I like that a lot. Not much room in the trail to put an ipod with easy access. Looks like i will be picking up 2. One for my trail one for my wifes limited

i swear by the nite ize steelie as well. works GREAT! and i have a rather large phone but it still works great. I stuck it to the outside of my case and it has had no issues.

also the best part about this mount is the ability to install and remove it with one hand, and often without looking. The magnet is really slick, and i probably say way too much about it when people ask me "what is that?".

i utilize the vent mount version and it hasnt done anything undue to my vents, besides limit the travel of the vent.

i challenge you to try it and i promise the space savings, and ease of use will have you oversharing about it to anyone who will listen.

another added bonus: you can stick it to ANYTHING magnetic!!! underside of you hood while you work on your truck, refrigerator, etc. Its freaking awesome!

^ this, all of this. And it's also useful at the gym, I just stick it to whatever machine/bench I'm using since I use Bluetooth headphones. Just don't forget it. I can say no more.

I'm going to half to try one of these.

I have a RAM X-Grip that holds my Note 4, now it's solid as can be but requires two hands to install. You can get it out with one though. Forgive me as I don't have a T4R yet. Still in my Tacoma but you guys are very helpful.

So is BestBuy my best local option? Time to get on the internet and check these out.

I wouldn't "half try" it, go big or go home!!! lol

You can grab one from amazon.com

I checked on Amazon last night,

But looking at my Tacoma dash the drivers right side vent to the left of the radio I don't want to block. The other is pretty far away for me. I'm thinking about trying the regular base and attaching it to my TechDeck and then using the dedicated RAM ball for possible iPad mounting. Not sure just yet. I do like the ease of which you can rotate the phone.

I have the stick on version, it's pretty much pure awesomeness.

I'm over the concern on cutting the dash (holes cut in multiple places) but it is removable with the stick on version. I'm sure there would be some discoloration or something, but when I look at the rest of my truck that's a moot point.

I'm a huge fan of pro clips. I have them in all of our cars.

I'm using this one in my 4runner:
Toyota 4Runner 2010-2017 ProClip Center Mount*-*ProClip USA

Love the location. I was worried about blocking the vent but it hasn't been an issue. Nice solid mount. Their fit kits are great.

Could it be mounted to the vent on the right? Looks like it could be...

I'd rather have it on the right side of the audio/infotainment system. My monkey arms are long.

Yes, it would work fine on the passenger side as well. In fact, you've got me thinking about moving mine :)

FWIW, it doesn't interfere with the audio system at all in its current spot. and, their custom phone mounts are awesome.

As an added bonus, I could take photo/video of forward traffic if I needed to while keeping it in the mount.

Interesting idea. I keep my GPS in a vent mount for many years, vent it strong enough and vent mount doesn't interfere with controls. But I wonder if a magnet can screw up compass sensor in the phone...

Nope, hasn't affected mine in the least, it was the first thing i checked.

If you have a note the magnet messes up the spen.

That's good to know as I have a Note 4,

Hmm... I like my X-Grip but it would be great to not have "stuff" all attached to the dash and all. I like the low profile the Steelie seems to suggest.
